“I tried to make the world a better place, not destroy it!” whispered Coulson. That was the last words he had said, the last thought he had before he left me. I had no idea what it meant at the time but I soon found out. People were dying, the human race was dying. Coulson’s words rattled round my brain as I looked up towards the sky. It was pitch black and the only source of light was my little camp fire. The divine smell of cooking meat wafted up my nose making my stomach rumble. I couldn’t remember the last time that I had had meat. I have been too busy looking to find a cure. My search has been on-going for two years. I had been surviving the world by myself, trying to fix Coulson’s mistake. Coulson had destroyed the world by mutating …show more content…
I looked in my mother’s mirror that I had kept. My once luscious light brown hair was now matted and turning blond from the sun, my blue eyes were bright and stood out on my tanned skin but around them I had bags from sleepless nights from nightmares. I placed the mirror along with the supplies I had gathered for the journey ahead into my backpack. At 9am I set of Southwards to meet Peter. For the first few hours I came across nothing out of the ordinary, the birds were flying in the sky and the fish were swimming and jumping in the river. About 1 mile away from where Peter and I had decided to meet, I looked up to the sky and saw that there were a swarm of crows above my head. Knowing that this were a sign of trouble I picked up my pace as I was in an open area with no cover. It was then that the crows decided to attack. They dived at me and began pecking me and grabbing me with their claws. I sprinted as fast as I could to get to the trees that were in front of me. Suddenly I heard this almighty bang, a gunshot. The crows let out harsh caws and flew away, reaching the trees I put my hand on my knees, panting. “You must be Elizabeth?” I let out a small scream and whipped my head to the left. There was a man with black hair and green eyes standing there, he put out his hand, “Peter” he commented. Getting over my mini-heart attack I took his hand and shook it, “Elizabeth” I replied. We decided to make camp in the forest and have some food, after our meal we both took out our backpacks to look over the information that we had gathered. It started raining, very heavily; there was this almighty rumble and a bright flash. I tried to stuff all my paper in my bag but was unsuccessful. “I’ve found it!” screamed Peter. Looking past him I saw a huge wave that was smashing down all the trees in its way. “We need to go!” I exclaimed. Peter dropped to his knees to pick up a piece of paper that I had dropped, “The cure, I’ve found
I arrived at the vacant lot around 8:25. The sun was yet setting again in the far distance. The empty train cars still littered the lot surrounding the vast opening. I walk toward the middle, wondering what I should be doing. It seemed like Alec hadn't arrived yet. And he's uptight about me arriving on time. I look some more, spinning in circles, trying to find him. Suddenly, I get the bejesus scared out of me when a dark figure popped out of the oblivion in front of my face. As I backed away, the figure became more clear. Then I see
The light peeked into my eyes as the black slowly faded away. A horrid smell stung my nose. I sat up and winced when a sudden, sharp pain shot up my left leg. I looked around. I was in what looked like an old hospital room surrounded by buzzing flies which had come to feed on the decaying bodies in the beds next to me. As I went to shoo a fly away, another strike of pain rushed through my leg. Panicking, I quickly took off my boot and rolled up my jeans to see jagged circular scars climbing up my leg. Wondering where the strange marks came from, I picked up the boot and went to put it on when a piece of paper fluttered out. It was an old, faded picture of a family. It looked like six figures: a father, a mother, two girls, and two boys.
As I open my eyes, an overwhelming anxiety floods through my veins. Paralyzed unable to bat a single eyelash, I move my eyes throughout the room. The mirror in the corner of the bedroom was luminescent from the crescent clear moon outside. As my eyes circled back to the mirror, the silhouette of a young women began to appear along with a cold breeze bringing shivers up and down my spine. She began approaching my bedside , one hand extended towards me, unable to see her face. I began screaming yearning for someone to hear my pleas for help. The sound of my own screams inside my head began to make my hands and feet clammy. As the silhouette reached out and brushed her hand along my cheek I felt the heat leave my body instantaneously. She has
One morning I wake up and brush my teeth as normal. I had problems going on that I was stressing about. I went to the school that everybody dreaded, and nobody liked to go to. I sat down as the loud bell rang, and began to gaze off into the distance in which the black crow appeared on the edge of the window. As I heard teacher’s loud voice I looked up and she was giving a math assignment on the faded green chalk board. The sound of the chalk on the board, was excruciating to my ears. I began to look around the dust filled clast room, in which ever body was chattering. That was until I got to the corner of
It was a grey and calm night. Desidério Eaton was sitting on his couch with his mother reading his favorite story: The Phantom Tollbooth, when tragedy struck. The wind began to howl and the windows shattered. The young man was scared out of his mind and did not know what to do. His mother grabbed him and held him in her warm embrace shielding him from the falling broken glass. Rain was pouring and lightning repeatedly struck the same place twice. His father rushed in the room with his Tommy gun and prepared to fend off the intruders, but there was only a storm. Desidério watched as his mother and father were swept away by the black winds and repeatedly shocked by the grey lightning. He raced after them as quickly as his eleven year old legs
The cold wind bit at my exposed neck while I walked towards the bench. Near the clouds above, a ray of light pierced the thin veil of mist and landed on the dewy grass. I sat and listened to the wind, the birds chirping and the occasional splash from the lake. So peaceful, so quiet. I looked at the pale sky and smiled. A large whoosh, made me flinch and close my eyes involuntarily. A small pigeon watched me with it’s cocked head. I chuckled, just a bird. Suddenly a rumbling in the ground rippled the water. I turned to see a bright light then crimson spilled into the sky as a boom echoed through the park. A clearly visible shockwave headed towards the gates. I was always scared. Screaming, then
I tiptoed my way up the stairs. Each step intensified the moaning and creaking as if the steps could collapse at any moment. I turned to the right, and met my final destination. The door did not give way easier, a forceful push was needed. Stepping inside a dresser seems to have been pushed against the door. A toy dinosaur lay missing its head on the bed. The sheet was splattered with a dark color. The wind intensified outside, the rustling of the leaves and branches were louder. In the corner, a little chair began to rock slowly. I look around my friends are no were to be seen or heard they left me for
The fog had lifted so the boys decided to walk across the field towards the woods. There was an abandoned tree fort out there that they had found last week. The walk wasn’t to far. They made their way across the field reaching the edge of the woods. Both boys looked at each other, Chris still fearful of the gunshots and walked into the woods. The boys walked without talking, listening to the sounds around them. There was the crunch of leaves along with the snapping of branches under their feet. The sound of crows in the distances broke the silence. Scott had gone a head of Chris by a few
The sky now was no longer a dark gray, but a tar, soot black. The bright, star-like lights were now turned off in the majority of the office buildings and other business. The group that I came to the concert with was all meeting up outside of the venue, but I arrived before everyone else at meeting place, which was under the tree. To occupy the time, I got on my phone and replied to the text messages that I missed. Suddenly, there was a light tap on my left shoulder and I heard the familiar deep, Scottish voice. “Hi, I was wondering if you would like to come with my friends and I to get some pizza at the restaurant across the street?” I stood there, glaring at him, like a deer I head lights. “I’m very sorry, but I rode here with some friends and I have to ride back home with them.” An expression of disappointment spread across his bearded, pale face. He took my social media information and proceeded to go with his friends. I could still smell his cologne and camel cigarette smoke while I was riding through the bright, shiny city that
So, there I sat awkwardly on the log with an odd feeling in my stomach. The wind blew and the trees around danced, their leaves swaying without a care. I tried to calm myself down and took a few deep breaths while closing my eyes. The sound of the rustling and wind softly howling was peaceful. To enjoy that evening is all I wanted, but I snapped out of it quickly with more unexplained laughter. Peering from the corners of my eyes, I saw them looking directly back. It was absolutely unnerving, so I thought quickly while the anonymous strangers went on in their peculiar ways. I had hoped I was just making it all up in my head, but I needed reassurance. I called my brother but got no answer. I tried calling my old friend Lauren after the last failed call but got no avail. I was feeling on edge. After the reality of five minutes feeling like hours, Lauren had finally called me back. I pressed the answer button, fingers slightly shaking and fumbling around to hold the phone correctly. My anxiousness became apparent, something I didn’t want to happen. I always tell myself to never show weakness. I wasn’t able to talk to Lauren for long, she had to hang up eventually even with my attempts to explain the situation. Once she hung up and the beep that notified me of the ended call rang out, I felt
I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the sunlight sneaking through the curtains of my bedroom window. I rubbed my eyes and attempted to rub the sleep from them. I could not see all too well still since I had not put my glasses on yet. I reached over to the nightstand beside my bed and blindly waved my hand around until it met the cold metal frame of my glasses. I slipped them on to my face and watched as the world became visible within seconds. I wiggled and stretched my toes and rolled my wrists. I had a pain in my left wrist; I assume I slept on it funny. The next thing I grabbed from my nightstand was my cell-phone; I debated checking it for a minute because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be upset this early in the morning. “You know, I bet those girls from your school probably commented something on your pictures again.” Dez was sitting cross-legged at the end of my bed, looking at her nails. “Not right now, Dez. Just give me another five minutes before you start on me today.” I was groaning because I could already feel the negative energy from her seep into the blankets by her body and into my toes. I felt the cold, dark vibrations run up my legs and into my stomach. “Oh come on, Amelia! Check your
The fog rolled over the barren land like a thick blanket. The emptiness spread for miles with only a few weeping willows dotting the site. The land was very unfamiliar. Honestly, everything was unfamiliar, I had no recollection of anything. I had been walking around aimlessly for hours and nothing spiked my memory. It was the same landscape as if I had been walking in circles. I had no idea who I was. I didn’t know who my parents were, I didn’t know where I lived or where I was born. I only knew two things, My name was Laurel Davis, and I was murdered.
I was standing in the middle of a field, smiling at a beautiful girl. She had blue eyes like the morning sky, her lips were like two tulips intertwine, and her nose was a short yet straight like a river, the kind of nose that catches your attention. She had wavy brunette hair, as if it was part of the field. I couldn't help but smile, knowing she was all mine. She motion me towards her and as I near, she slowly moved away, as if moving towards something. I saw a big oak tree appear, standing behind her, giving off an intimidating stance. I follow her to it, and as we held hands, I felt the cold wind blow against my cheeks. I leaned in to kiss her, only she didn't do the same. I opened my eyes and saw the look of horror on her face. Next thing I knew, she fell onto the ground and a pool of blood seeped out of her white long dress. I held her close and cried, her hand rested on my cheek and whispered:
One day, we were camping in the woods. We set up camp only in the fringe of the forest, but still surrounded by trees on all sides. It was night, around midnight, we were telling ghost stories, but it was just me, my friend and his dog, and my grandpa. My grandpa was just starting his story, “One time, long ago, there was a boy and his dog, wandering the forest here…” here his voice got an eerie tone, which I never heard before, and still gives me the chills today, and he continued talking. “The dog heard a noise, like a twig snapping, and ran, the boy tried to chase his ferret, but ran head long into a strange fox, red eyes, black fur, and the boy wasn’t seen again. The dog, unaware of what happened, returned home, the fox is said to be still around this forest somewhere,” a pack of wolves howled in the distance, giving me goose bumps, my friend scooted closer to his pet, a green and white cat, uneasy. Suddenly, I saw a black shape moving in the darkness outside of the fire light, it looked at me, red eyes flashing in the light of the fire, and then disappeared into the dark forest. Grandpa was saying we should get some sleep, but I was too nervous to sleep from the image of those eyes fresh in my memory, so I stayed up most of the night reading and thinking about what I saw, until I fell asleep, book open next to me. The next morning I exited the small two person tent. It had me, my friend, and his cat, all in one tent; it got cramped in the
Once there was a boy named Alex he just hit his car into the fallen tree and now stranded in the middle of a forest with no service. Alex stepped out of the car to see how much damage there were in his car. Alex felt so hopeless with the fact that he has no help and no service from anywhere to call anyone. Alex looks around to see if there have been anything to help him to get out of the forest. He walked further away from his car to see if there is any way for him to return home. While he was walking towards the forest, the sky started to get this blood orange color and the ground was getting mushy like mud as he walk farther into the forest. Alex was getting goosebumps from the shivers down his spine. When he was walking it started to get colder, this made Alex confused because it was just warm a minute ago. Alex was hearkening to the trees that whistled through the breeze. Bats were appearing and flying around in the sky moreover, the moon started to go down into the sky . Alex tripped over a rock and then stumbles forward and hit his head on some sort of concrete. ¨OW, WHAT WAS THAT?¨ he yelled, he rubbed his head from the sensation of a brick hitting his head really hard then looked up. What he saw was a strange well that looked old and had moss everywhere, the well, even had a bucket that still had water in it but it wasn’t just any water, it was black water. Alex had this disgusted look on his face just by looking at the black water. There were scantlings of water
