There is no such thing as maximum training in cosmetology because a person can keep training after receiving the credentials necessary to start a career in cosmetology. ‘Cosmetology programs generally grant certificates, diplomas or associate's degrees, rather than bachelor's degrees’ (Bachelor’s). Before I graduated from high school, I devised a five year plan for myself. First, I would attend SUNY Albany to obtain a degree in business. Then, I would attend a cosmetology school, acquire the 1,000 hours needed to take my state board exams, take those exams to finally secure my cosmetology license. All of this would eventually lead to opening my own salon in the future. About a month before my graduation, an ambulance bolted my mom to the hospital.

The Elkhart Area Career Center cosmetology class is a loud, crazy, girly group. They are all about makeup, hair, and YouTube. Mrs. Teagarden, the instructor is a medium eight, silver-white haired lady. The salon lab is an L shape room with fluorescent lights, walks half cream half green. Since I did not have a mentor nor spent time with someone to learn about cosmetology, I done a lot of research to learn about cosmetology. Cosmetology is a very great experience to go to school for. It's not just about hair anymore. When you go to school for cosmetology is about hair stylists, barbers, estheticians, manicurists and pedicurists, and theatrical and performance makeup artists. Times have changed from just being a barber or a hairstylist, it has blossomed into so many other great opportunities for people to learn and explore new adventures.

My interest in cosmetology and hair began to develop when I was around ten years old. I have always been in love with hair and makeup, and when I was ten I was finally old enough my stepmother brought me to the shop for the first time, and from that day forward at ten years old, I knew that this was my dream. If students procrastinate and cheat, they will not know the proper techniques to pass State Board. State Board is the single most important thing to getting your Cosmetologist License.
