Trying to find out if a conspiracy theory is true or false is the hardest situation ever. There 's just more and more theories being brought to light each and every day. Conspiracy theories are said to be explanations for an event that is manipulated by a group of people, usually used to cover up something that 's true. As the popularity of conspiracy theories blew up, they seemed to become more hostile. Today 's conspiracy theories seem to be believed by anyone, rather the information is legit or not. Some are too weird to even believe in them and some aren 't even close to being normal. Knowing that some theories are true and some are false, it would be a crime to just ignore these conspiracies. There are a lot of questions behind conspiracies. What is the type of people creating these theories? What is the real definition? What keeps people so attached to something that 's widely talked about from different perspectives? An interesting quote that connects with this topic is “The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theories, is that conspiracy theorists believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is actually chaotic. The truth is that it is not The Illuminati, or The Jewish Banking Conspiracy, or the Gray Alien Theory. The truth is far more frightening - Nobody is in control. The world is rudderless.” Truly no one knows if they 're correct, no one knows anything. It 's all just a theory.

What if what you had been told your whole life was a lie? How would you feel if everything reported about a terrorist attack or a shooting was actually a conspiracy by the United States? What is a conspiracy? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a conspiracy is “a secret plan made by two or more people that is harmful or illegal”. There are so many conspiracy theories out there in the world starting as early as the 1800s. These theories range from scientific, terrorist, criminal, political, economic and business, and even religious conspiracies. The two conspiracy theories that I am talking about is the attack that changed the United States, as we knew it, the one that we believed was a terrorist attack, also known as 9/11, and the Sandy Hook shooting. There are multiple reasons that lead me to consider these two attacks to be something more than a terrorist and criminal attack. The reasons are because the timelines do not add up, there are too many inconsistencies, and the benefits are too great.
Brian Keeley’s short essay, “Of Conspiracy Theories” discusses conspiracy theories and their value in an epistemological context. Keeley defines a conspiracy theory as “a proposed explanation of some historical event (or events) in terms of the significant causal agency of a relatively small group of persons-the conspirators-acting in secret (Keeley 1999, pg. 116).” Keeley seeks to answer the question of why conspiracy theories are unwarranted. His interest in the warrant of conspiracy theories focuses on ¬the unfalsifiability of conspiracy theories and how conspiracy theories are founded upon an extraordinarily large amount of skepticism. In section III, Keely discusses what a conspiracy theory is, and contends that there is no grounds for
Conspiracy theories are thoughts that people have about what happened to a person or even a thing like aliens being real. Although some are clearly not real, some may be true and may have happened. An example of one that most people believe is true is the Illuminati. But no one knows can ever know for sure, except the people in the Illuminati themselves.
My personal favorites all happen to involve the government, some classics included. It is said that 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by Bush to purposely start a war with Afghanistan. Some survivors recall that they heard separate explosions at the time of the attacks, which has led people to believe that there were pre-planted explosives inside the Twin Towers. It is a well known fact that the towers collapsed at one point, but this is seen as suspicious to many conspiracy theorists. A common known phrase among believers is “jet fuel can’t melt steel beams.” Another widely believed theory is that the Royal Family killed Princess Diana. There are a few versions, one of which is that they killed her to prevent her from exposing the Family for being awful and corrupt. The other is where she was killed for loving a man of color,
Ever heard a story so outlandish that you start to wonder if that could possibly ever happen. Well you’ve just been told a conspiracy theory, but do not worry. Many people don’t just wonder about them, they believe in them. There is a great many reason of why this is, there have even been studies done on it. Many scientists concede that people believe in conspiracy theories because they have some uncertainty or fear with in them, and the conspiracy is a way to relieve themselves. They also believe that mistrust has a huge roll in people believing, especially mistrust in huge corporations and big bodies of power such as the government. But fear and mistrust aren’t the only reasons. People also just love a good story, something that is complex and has a lot of action. I mean no one goes to the movie to see a movie about paint drying. They want drama, romance, and lots of action. That’s why people are so compelled into believing conspiracy theories.
Before the discussion if furthered, it is important to lay down the basics of who really is a conspiracy theorist. By "Conspiracy Theorist", it is meant to reference a person who has spent at least ten years of their life to the ideas which counter those of larger accepted organizations (ex: Government). These persons must have published at least two books about their topics and must have some sort of mass following and audience. According to PBS, a Conspiracy Theorist is: "someone who postulates on the existence of secret agreements between two or more people or government to perform unlawful acts." (PBS: Strange Days) that definition is what will be used in conjunction with the stated qualifications above for each person discussed in this paper.
Over the years there have been many occurrences that have led to many suspicious citizens that do not believe the answers that they receive which has led to the creation of conspiracy theories, and many of them. Some of them make sense and provide factual information and support yet others are more abstract and do not contain much proof and if they do contain proof it is quickly deemed as false. In some cases some conspiracy theories turn out to be the truth. The definition of a conspiracy theory is an explanatory hypothesis that accuses a person or group of people of planning and or covering up major events that have occurred throughout history.
September 11, 2001, was a day that caused physical and emotional destruction because of the terror attacks that took place at the World Trade Center and the Twin Towers. There are many conspiracy theories that have come up causing great speculation of what actually happened and are argued to this day.A conspiracy theory is a theory that explains an event as a result or secret plan organized by a covert group. Many conspiracists believe that the United States government was behind the 9/11 attacks and altered the events and information and persuaded citizens into believing that the Islamic group Al-Qaeda was responsible. Similarly in 1984 by George Orwell, the government alters the truth to keep control of the country. The main protagonist Winston Smith works at the Ministry of Truth where he works to destroy any evidence where Big Brother could be called into question and also changes how events happened to fit the Party’s expectations. The purpose of his job is for the other citizens to continue to believe that Oceania is a perfect place to live in because of its economic, social, and military dominance. The Party is also responsible for watching and hearing everything that happens in Oceania. The Thought Police placed telescreens in every household and through these telescreens everything someone does can be seen and heard leaving no one with privacy; comparable to how after the 9/11 attacks, security across the United States tightened up. Anything that was seen as suspicious
Conspiracy theories have caused people to question everything the government tells them for hundreds of years. A conspiracy theory is an explanation of an event or situation that invokes a conspiracy without warrant. Conspiracy theories generally involve an illegal or harmful act carried out by the government or other powerful actors. The Moon landing is still one of the biggest conspiracy theories in the world. After forty-eight years it is still being debated and discussed in many laboratories, and classrooms across the globe. On July 20, 1969, two American astronauts by the name of Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin allegedly, landed safely on the moon. The entire world was shocked, especially the Soviet Union. On that day many people were
Often people take things at face value without any interest in critically analyzing the authenticity of what he or she hears. 9/11 has been remembered as a day of fear and pain as thousands of families suffered losing loved ones to al-Qaeda. For four years Osama Bin Laden denied responsibility for the September 11 attacks of 2001 which mark the deadliest day on American soil in history, claiming that the current leader of the Islamic state at the time denied Osama the right to exercise the power to perform operations such as 9/11 (Avery: “Loose Change”). Though presumed the culprit, Osama denied any involvement in the incident for years before admitting in a video released by the Pentagon,
Firstly, one conspiracy that seems somewhat true was someone or something other than al Qaeda orchestrated the events of 9/11. A few reasons why I believed this theory could be somewhat true for one reason. One reason is that 9/11 either happened on purpose or by allowing it to happen,
This event had gave a kick of more than a half century of the conspiracy theories surrounding unidentified flying objects, in other words “UFOs”. Numerous witnesses reported seeing metallic debris scattered over a wide area and at least one reported seeing a blazing craft crossing the sky shortly before it had crashed. In recent years, witnesses have added significant new details, including claims of a large military operation dedicated to recovering alien craft and aliens themselves, at as many as 11 crash sites, and alleged witness intimidation. In 1989, former mortician Glenn Dennis claimed that he was involved in alien autopsies which were carried out at the Roswell air force base. This conspiracy theory has been said a million times by the U.S military repeatedly changing its story. Hours of the army telling reporters that it had recovered a crashed saucer, senior officer insisted that the only thing that has ever fallen from the sky was a weather balloon. A second report was released in 1997, concluding that alien bodies were likely a combination of innocently transformed memories of military accidents involving injured or killed personnel, and the recovery of anthropomorphic dummies in military program like Project High Dive conducted in the 1950s. Since the late 1990s, the debate about Roswell has polarised with several former pro-UFO researchers concluding that the craft was indeed,
Conspiracy theories have been around for a long time. A conspiracy theory is the belief that an unexplained event was a result of an organization or sometimes the government. There are many conspiracy theories circulating the web.
There are multiple conspiracy theories that are believed to be true but are not proven with evidence. The Lee Harvey Oswald theory is one of the top theories that is
The definition of a conspiracy theory, according to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary is, “a secret plot that is largely unknown to the general public” (Webster 84). Dan Brown focuses on an unusual conspiracy in his novel, The Da Vinci Code. The religious conspiracy theories suggested in this novel discuss secrets of epic proportions that have the potential to shatter the foundations of Christianity. “Behold the greatest cover-up in human history!” (270). Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code proves everybody loves a conspiracy.
