However I learned that if a pick up this book and read I’ll be able to put myself to sleep even if I’m struggling to fall asleep. For Confucius Lives Next Door: What Living In The East Teaches Us About Living In the West is like listening to a monotone speaker that makes everyone want to be anywhere else than suffer anymore to their ramblings. The first Confucian Virtue Jen represents inner moral behaviors, compassion, love, humanity, and virtue. Mr. Matsuda-san lives the life of jen by sacrificing his life to preserve jen, for his consideration of humanity towards others, and that he seek to extend jen towards others. As for Li, this concept of Confucian Virtues, is the value that includes good manners, and the proper behaviors of acting. There is a part in the book where the neighbor Mr. Matsuda-san comes by to say that the noise their son is making is a meiwaku offense, however the way he goes about it is with very good manners. When it comes to hsin it deals sometimes with sympathy and empathy, but primarily it represents issues of faithfulness and sincerity. In the book there is a part regarding how the author came back to Japan when is old neighbor from Japan sends a letter saying this will be his last one he will be sending out. Humaneness (Jen), is to treat others as you would want to be treated. The neighbor kept stating to the author that it hurts the community you belong to, to not state you belong to that community by putting yourself first when you introduce yourself. 5. Rite, right (Li), represent the interaction between humanity, human objects, and nature by using proper manner. Throughout the book we learn that living in Japan the family notices how different it is than Japan and they are told that Japanese’s no right from wrong and live by it that is why you can leave a bike outside and the next day it will be there in Japan. 6. Loyalty towards others even when they are not loyal to you. Confucius pupils and followers were very loyal to him even if Confucius was not as loyal to them. 7. Filial piety literally means to be good to one's parents by taking care of one's parents and respecting ones parents and ancestors. While engaging in good conduct outside the home as well as in the home to bring a good name to one's parents and ancestors. 8. Relationships have five basic loyalties; relationship between ruler and people, between parent and child, marital relations, between siblings, between older members and juniors in a community. “The underling must be respectful and obedient, but the superior has a duty of benevolence” (Reid
Loyalty should be considered a quality that is supposed to keep family ties together and use the shield of bravery to protect it. It is proven that devotion in families of today, are lost and bravery shows no character in a person. It is a personality that each individual has in them only to be used in the most courteous way and should not be used selfishly. Loyalty cannot be purchased and must be earned. If it used in the wrong way, it can climax to a disaster.
Loyalty is a type of love that has to do with trust for a person or group. Shakespeare shows loyalty for the Capulets when he wrote,”Here comes two/ of the house of Montagues./ My naked weapon is out. Quarrel! I will back thee.”(1.1.30-32). This quote shows the loyalty the Capulets have for their household. This scene displays
Loyalty is trait that every person in the world should have. An example of loyalty is when
during the Zhou Dynasty, China was experiencing a great deal of political turmoil. A major part of this era was called the Period of the Warring States. It was a time when there were numerous wars that occurred due to the conflict that existed between seven states. (Watkins, 2013) These warring states were the Han, Wu, Zhao, Chu, Qi, Yan and Jin. According to Jerry H. Bentley and Herbert F. Ziegler of the book Traditions and Encounters, “This period forced some people to reflect on the nature of society, and the roles of humans beings within society.” The authors continued saying that it forced others to “identify principles that would restore political and social order.” (Bentley & Ziegler, 2011) The principles of Confucianism were established and followed in order to help the citizens of China to live and govern their communities more efficiently. Through Confucianism, Confucius helped legitimize China’s rule and bring about order in the mist of turmoil. The effects of Confucius’ principles are still seen and felt today in many aspects of modern day Chinese society. Veritably, there were points throughout Chinese history where Confucianism affected almost every aspect of life in China. Confucius has impacted the development of Chinese thought and culture in various ways from education to politics, to familial relationships.

Loyalty is defined in Merriam Webster dictionary as “faithful in allegiance to one's lawful sovereign or government”. Also known as comitatus, Beowulf declares
Loyalty is heroic. Loyalty is defined as faithfulness or devotion to a person, cause, obligations, or duties. In Homer's Odyssey one can see loyalty in many forms. Odysseus is loyal to the gods whom he realized held his life in their hands. Penelope was loyal to Odysseus, while trying not to offend the rude suitors. Telemachus was loyal to a father whom he only knew from the stories he had been told. Time and time again we see loyalty in the strongest sense, complete fidelity in time of uncertainty.
Loyalty has always been seen as a commendable trait, not only in human beings but in any creature, all through history. Soldiers have admired their enemies for their loyalty to fallen comrades, thousands of stories have been written about the intense loyalty animals portray for their owners, and even companies in the workforce look for loyalty in potential employees. Loyalty has been seen as something that distinguishes the trustworthy from the untrustworthy, and something that sets the great apart from the good. The archetypal hero commonly has a cause, whether it be another person or personal beliefs, that they are loyal to, and this unwavering loyalty is what makes them appear so highly in the eyes of the reader. Loyalty can be found in practically any work of literature, but within The Torah, The Odyssey, and Inanna is the idea that true loyalty, although a rare attribute, is the key to a successful relationship.
Being loyal is to have a strong feeling of support or allegiance for someone or something.
Loyalty is perhaps the most important characteristic a person can possess. Loyalty is defined by Google as “giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution.” In the books Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by Stone , this definition is exploited both in a positive and negative way. In Romeo and Juliet loyalty is a characteristic that both characters acquire along their journey and it has an ennobling effect on them. While in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight , Sir Gawain is displayed as being a loyal man, but then he becomes perfidious because of his selfish way and it cost him his respect and nobleness.
Loyalty to another person or to a cause may be an admirable trait, but it
There are, however, two flaws in this book that are hard to ignore. I share his fondness for Japan's national neighborhood. I lived there for 10 years with my family, and very happy campers we were. For the foreigner residing in this Confucian country is like a person given almost total access to an excellent, well-run and well-stocked club -- but without the need to pay any of the membership dues. When my friend the golfing executive talked
Loyalty is "faithful adherence to a sovereign, government, leader or cause" according to Dictionary.com . Sometimes loyalty is good and sometimes loyalty is bad. For example good loyalty is when People celebrate their country's independence. However bad loyalty is when Nazi Germany Kill the Jewish people and Normal people let it happen. In the book The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, The loyalty between Longstreet and Lee is a bad thing that make Lee and the South lose the war.
