Soccer or ¨football¨ as multiple people call it is an easy, but complex game that has been around for more than two thousand years. With eleven players on the field the objective of the sport is to score as many goals as a team by kicking the ball into the opponents goal and not letting the opponents score. There is an innumerable amount of techniques that every person can learn, and by doing so players can become better by practicing, and then using that skill on the field. In soccer both teams have four major positions which include strikers, midfielder, defenders, and most importantly goalie. Each position has a hefty job on their hands so the opponent does not score. The first position is striking. A striker is the one who is at the head of the line up and attacks the opponent's defense and tries to get the ball into their goal too. They have to be physically and mentally ready, because the game can not be faster than.Mainly on the field teams will have two or three players in this position. Occasionally teams will place four strikers for either tying the game or getting in the game winning shot. As a striker gaining skills and using them on opponents is also very important, because a defender will not let a striker by without putting pressure on or stealing the ball. …show more content…

These players support the strikers while they attack. As the strikers make their move towards the goal, midfielders will shortly follow behind. Midfielders are the ones who move the ball around and finish the attack by driving the defense back, so the strikers can get the open shot. Midfields will also be backing the defense against the opponent's offence at many points in the game. So as a result, a midfielder will have to have a bountiful amount of stamina to run back and forth. A midfielder will need the most training of all in both attacking and defending categories to even the skill level
