“It’s not easy to be a hero. You do it because of what you believe, not because of what other people deserve.” Anyone can face a challenge or a hardship. But what makes a true hero is how the person takes on the challenge. Often, heroes show feats of ingenuity and acts of bravery. Two heroes that acted during the American Civil Rights Movement, were Martin Luther King Jr, and Rosa Parks. A hero is a person who has demonstrated behaviors to ethically receive our appreciation and respect. A hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength within themselves to persevere and undergo hardships and calamity. A hero is simply, someone that shows courage and bravery to persevere through hardships. For example, a hero shows great acts of strength and determination to continue in the face of difficulty. The action that a hero demonstrates, is what causes recognition and appreciation. A hero takes action for a cause that they feel strongly about. For instance, if someone was bullying another kid, and someone who was watching from the outside, decided to stand up for what they believe in, that person who acted upon the bully would be considered a hero. The person took action for what they believe in, and didn’t just sit there and let the kid get bullied. In other words, a hero can be anyone that demonstrates skill and determination to stand up for what they believe in. Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks are two examples of people who acted upon a cause they felt strongly about. Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks are two examples of a historical heroes. According to Biography.com, “Through his activism and inspirational speeches he played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of African-American citizens in the United States, as well as the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.” In other words, King did not sit all day and watch African-Americans get treated unequally, due to the color of their skin. He took action and stood up for what he believed in. This took a great deal of courage and determination because, people involved in these peaceful protests, suffered from violence and harassment. Additionally, Rosa Parks is a prime example of a hero who not once lacked
Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks were inspirational leaders that contributed greatly towards the civil rights movement. With racial discrimination surrounding King and Park, growing up as an African American made it hard and colored people were unfairly treated. Both King and Park knew the inequalities and sought education to aid themselves in their unfair life. Despite this, Park and King were brought up responsibly by their parents, King was an active civil rights activist, participating in the ‘Montgomery Bus Boycott’, ‘March on Washington’ and lead the ‘Selma to Montgomery march’. Rosa Parks was an influential figure contributing to the civil rights movement as she was the chosen ‘test case’ the NCAACP were looking for.
To me a hero is someone who can overcome trials and tribulations. A hero is brave enough to face the world and help others in a time of need. Langston Hughes is a good example of a hero because he helped his community and other young people in the world.
What is a hero? You may think a hero is someone who saves the world like Superman or Batman, but a hero is a lot more then that. People like Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr. are the real heroes, that we should look up to, not the superheroes that we see on movies. An individual can only grow as its barrier permits. Captivity limits a person's ability to perform. Furthermore, the punishments that arise with this causes fear in an individual's everyday life. In 1896, the Supreme Court ruled the separation of black and white races. This segregation was in codification until 1954, the same year it was overruled. During this time Martin Luther King Jr., leader during the Civil Rights Movement and an integrationist, lead nonviolent protests to end discrimination and to have equal rights. Equally important to the movement that was the actions of Rosa Parks. Both individuals faced similar discrimination and felt caged by the barriers built by society. When they tried to break through these barriers they faced conflicts that they thought to be worth the effort to strive closer towards freedom. Rosa Parks and Dr. King were both jailed for their attempts for justice, during the time in which King wrote the “Letter from Birmingham Jail” to the eight clergymen who he thought did bear genuine good will and had a little in common with his efforts.
A true hero is someone who keeps fighting for what is right. Heroes go out of their way to do something to help another, even if it involves a sacrifice of your own, or even if there is no reward for doing that task. For example, Frederick Douglass was a slave, who soon escaped and spoke out against slavery, even though he was scared, he did not stop the fight to end it.
