I believe that when you persevere you can accomplish countless things. When someone says perseverance, I believe that people automatically think about working hard and getting rewards after. While working hard is a big part in it, there is more to it. I am going to share a couple of stories that will hopefully change your mind about perseverance. My first reason is skiing. I don't ski, never did and never wanted to, but when a good majority of my friends and family urged me to ski, I knew there was something I was missing. Finally about 4 months ago, I tried it and my life changed from the moment I hoped of the lift. At first I kept falling and raging, but I just kept getting up and not quitting and I eventually got to ski with my friends. Now, every weekend I go skiing with my family and/or my friends. …show more content…
When I first moved to Bend from New Jersey two years ago, I tried out for the Bend F.C Timbers because I played for a team like the Timbers in New Jersey. I soon realized the people on the team and in Bend, were in a lot better shape than I was. Because of this I didn't want to be on the team because I was afraid I couldn't keep up. A year and a half later I tried out for them again even though I wasn't in the best shape. I knew if I played for them, I would become in good shape. I tried out and I made it. I have been playing on this team for about 3 months and I am already seeing a difference. This is perseverance because I knew for the first few months it would be difficult because of the shape I was in, but I did it anyway because with that hard work came great
Homer’s The Odyssey, an epic poem about the trials of Odysseus on his return journey, demonstrates that perseverance is at the heart of every hero. The ability to endure hardships is not a quality that is attributed to many characters, and in The Odyssey, a character’s lack of perseverance will bring him his demise. Similar to Odysseus, Penelope, his wife, perseveres by staying faithful and unmarried for twenty years, while waiting for his return. Through The Odyssey, Homer suggests that those who are loyal to and homesick for their homeland are willing to persevere for their homecoming, and thereby they complete the journey that proves them a hero.
Growing up, I believed that my family’s lifestyles, illnesses, and issues did not necessarily affect me. The problems that they were facing were only theirs to face. It never dawned on me that later in life I would be subjected to the same types of setbacks as they were. One of which included finding my voice. I used to be quiet. My ideas and thoughts were in my imagination because it appeared as though no one was willing to listen. I used to hide. The shadows were more of a friend than anyone of my peers. That was until I found my voice; my voice empowered me. It gave me a reason to fight for what I believe in. My voice taught me that I am not that same little girl who was scared, broken, and alone. I am now a young lady who is fierce, determined, and loved.

The perfect example of perseverance is in, “A Young Tinkerer Builds a Windmill, Electrifying a Nation” while William Kamkwamba was reading an old textbook, he saw a picture of a windmill. He thought, maybe it could help put electricity in his house, so he started working on making a windmill out of spare bike parts and blue-gum tree trunks. He might have messed up few times, but he got right back up from where he started, and he kept going. With this perseverance, he got invited to come to a high-tech university, and go to school.
Perseverance is typically viewed as a good quality. If you have a goal, everyone usually encourages you to push through and achieve it. In many cases perseverance is a valuable trait, but it can also be a negative one. Sometimes this determination can be seen as both positive and negative at the same time.
2. What helps and what hinders your ability to reflect on your thinking before, during, and after an event or activity?
I believe that having the ability to persevere in any given situation is one of the best but also one of the toughest qualities that one can posses. Perseverance is not a quality that everyone can have because being able to persevere takes being strong-willed, having the mental capability and the tenacity to push through anything even when it gets difficult. Having perseverance is not easy, I have to be willing to continue with whatever is being done despite the difficulty or delay of succes.
When I was playing high school football I was 6’5 200 pounds, I wasn’t hitting hard and I wasn’t really fast so before practice I would lift weights and run. I would push myself everyday in practice. After a few weeks I gained 15 pounds of muscle, I felt stronger and I felt lighter on my feet. I would always encourage my team and I would be a leader. I would leave it all on the field. I would work my heart out with sports and school because I wanted to keep playing football. Grades
For every individual, there is one main idea, concept, or occurrence which holds power over their life. I am a perfectionist in everything I do. In my life, the thought of change and fear of the unknown, at times hindered me from life’s possibilities. While it is not unusual to face adversity throughout your lifetime, my ability to embrace change and use it as a foundation of personal growth ultimately culminated in 2016-2017.
There are many ways to show courage, riding a new roller coaster, overcoming the fear of talking to someone new, or even just being tough when times are hard. The way that I showed courage was not giving up even when I am not the best at something. In seventh grade, I decided to try out for cheerleading since it seemed fun and lots of my friends were doing it. On the day of tryouts, I was super nervous because I did not want to make the junior varsity team since most of my friends would probably be on varsity. I thought that I would at least try so I could at least make the team next year. I was hoping that the risk would pay off.
I had no idea where I was. Despite my blurred vision, I soon recognized the sound of an operating heart monitor machine. I tried to rub my eyes, but the wires connected to my arm restrained my movements. As I recovered my vision, I recognized the ICU room and my father standing beside me. He gently covered me, swallowed his tears, took a deep breath, and told me what had happened. While he was speaking, some moments of the incident gradually started coming to me, and it all began to make sense.
Perseverance is a noun that describes the ability to never succumb to obstacles in pursuit of a goal. Perseverance
Persevere - continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. This definition is hardly the truth, as it shows no emotion or struggle. It pains me to think that such smart people can write such anti-climactic, non-emotional, monotone, stereotypical definitions for something that means so much more. In many movies and writings you see people persevere for a very important reason, the same is true for real life. To persevere is to keep going, no matter what is thrown at you. When u keep falling and falling and falling, you keep getting up and up and up because you have some motivation, some will to achieve the thing you are persevering towards. But, a better definition would be, Persevere
Perseverance is the actions taken to overcome a struggle without giving up. To be able to persevere, one must face an obstacle or personal conflict. To show perseverance and push through the barrier, you will need a purpose. Why is this struggle or obstacle in life so necessary to overcome? What is your purpose of overcoming the obstacle? Once you have a purpose, you will need to determine the direction to go to start your process of persevering through that struggle.
It has been said that life can never be carried out and truly lived to its fullest unless there has been some sort of suffering and pain. Mistakes are to be learned from, and a hard past can only result in a stronger present. Though many might find themselves alone in their misery the truth is they are not, everyone has struggles. We all have our ups and downs, but it is how we react to them that truly matters. Life is life and no matter what, giving up on lifelong dreams and aspirations because of a few bumps in the road should never be an option.
