A companion diagnostic can be defined as a medical device which in most cases is a Vitro-device that provides crucial information necessary for the effective and safe usage of a given biological product or drug. The test conducted using this device is helpful to a healthcare professional because it will help them determine if a given therapeutic product is going to benefit a patient by evaluating the balance between the side effects created by the drug and the benefits of the same drug on the patient.
