Nestled in Southern Indiana just west of Louisville, Kentucky and south of Indianapolis, Indiana is Dubois County, Indiana. Dubois County is comprised of the towns of Birdseye, Ferdinand, Holland, Huntingburg and Jasper. Of those towns, Jasper is the largest and is the county seat (Kelly School of Business, 2014). Over fifty-two percent of the population consists of adults ranging from 25-64 years of age (Kelly School of Business, 2014). The leading cause of mortality in this county is heart disease, cancer, suicide and injuries (Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center & Dubois County Health Department, 2011).

In September of 2012, beginning in the country of Saudi Arabia, hospitals began seeing increased cases of a respiratory virus never before seen in humans. They named it Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS. MERS is a viral respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus. It was originally thought to have started there in Saudi Arabia. It was not until later that they were able to trace the origin back to Jordan starting in April of 2012. All outbreaks of MERS have been traced back to originating from the Arabian Peninsula (CDC, 2015a). Unfortunately, it is not known exactly how MERS was contracted in humans, but it is believed to have come from an animal source, probably from camels. Strains of MERS

Greenville County’s disaster preparedness plans and resources are maintained by the Emergency Operations Center. The Emergency Operations Center “is the physical location where emergency management and support personnel come together during an emergency to coordinate response and recovery efforts and allocate available resources” (“Emergency Preparedness,” 2015). Greenville County Hazards include naturally occurring events such as dam/levee failure, drought, flooding, tornados, tropical storms, and winter storms; as well as hazardous materials (HazMat) events including fixed facility accidents, nuclear accidents, pipeline accidents, and transportation accidents. Hazardous materials events are of particular concern due to the fact that “Greenville County has more than 1,400 miles of state-maintained highways, numerous railroad lines, and many industrial manufacturing plants that use hazardous materials”

It includes the cities of Pearland, Manvel, Alvin, Angleton, Sweeny, Lake Jackson, and Freeport. Of these, Angleton is the county seat, but Pearland has the greatest population (City-data.com, 2015). As of 2012, Brazoria County contained a population of 77% urban and 23% rural (City-data.com, 2015). Of the residents of Brazoria County, 63% are between the ages of 18 and 64 (United States Census Bureau, 2010). In the State of North Carolina(NC) to be able to obtain a license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner the applicant will first will have to hold an active valid Registered Nurse license number from NC or from another compact state (NC Board of Nursing, 2015). The next major step is to complete an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program. Until recently South University was not an accredited school in North Carolina for Nurse Practitioner not only a few months ago the accreditation was obtained. After satisfactory completion of the program the prospective NP will have to apply to the AANC or ACNP for examination to obtain a certification (NC Board of Nursing, 2015). Once the NP passes the board she will have national certification to practice in any state where the Registered Nurse license is active, and she will have to follow the requirement for that state. The board will mail a registration card that will allow the nurse to use the title of NP, but it does not grant the authority to practice. With the advances in industry such as energy production we can have more luxuries which include heat, lights and running water. However, as technology gets bigger and better there will always be risks that can lead to catastrophic outcomes. Luckily for the United States; we did not have a disastrous outcome with a nuclear power plant such as the 1986’s Chernobyl Nuclear Power plant catastrophe, making, ”the Chernobyl disaster the only level 7 incident on the International Nuclear Event Scales (INES) making it the biggest man-made disaster of all time” (List 25, 2014) . Three Mile Island power plants is located near Middletown Pennsylvania. On March 28, 1979, the plant had a partial meltdown. Even though the Three Mile Island power plant incident did not have any adverse health effects, Three Mile Island had an impact on the nuclear industry development and politically in the United States.

When the first settlers landed on south carolina they were limited with resources. After they settled or somewhat of settled the diversity of the soil made it tough to grow food, soil like clay,loam, and marl were hard to distinguish. Clay is a type of soil that does not help plants grow or can grow plant, loam is like clay but with sand and silt, but silt is like a fertilizer that helps plants grow .The diversity of the lands soil made it difficult for the settlers to identify the type of soil like clay, loam, and marl. The lands of savannah was also cleared by indians and did not produce any trees. The land they wanted to settle on was filled with dangerous creatures of nature. These creatures include Panthers, Tigers,wolves, and other dangerous animals, which in a cause of this became dangerous at night, and day.

One easy way to provide feedback and information to parents is to make an online newsletter. My teacher updates her newsletter about once every two weeks and then sends an email to the parents to let them know. The newsletter is on the schools main page, but the bi-weekly reminder is how she communicates the information with parents. In my teachers newsletter she includes a calendar for the month, important school events, like the Thanksgiving Feast. My teacher also includes what the students are learning in class and ways that the parents could help them at home, such as read aloud time, and finding vocabulary words together.
