My goal for this project was to strictly reduce the number of soft drinks I was in-taking. I chose this as my goal because I considered myself to drink too many sodas, even my family members pointed it out. My target behavior was to reduce the consumption of soft drinks each week. I was going to change my diet and I needed the support of my friends and family to successfully reach my goal. I told my friends and family about the upcoming project and asked for their help. My friends and family were very supportive of me during the period of this project. Every time we went out to eat they always reminded me that I set a goal to stop drinking soft drinks. Even if I was just at home and opened the fridge, my siblings or parents would jump right on me about drinking sodas. The biggest suggestion they gave me was that every time I craved soda, to choose an alternative. Through my journey in accomplishing this goal, I expected many changes. The way I felt about my body changed, I experienced less gas, burping, and lost weight. …show more content…
I limited myself to three a week rather than drinking a can of soda each day like I was accustomed to. I had a real bad habit of drinking soda for every meal or at any time that I was thirsty. Therefore, I chose to minimize the number of cans I would drink. During this first week, I still experienced the effects of drinking soda such as burping and mild gas problems. I was bothered by often I was releasing gas and having headaches, but I knew it would get better once I got used to not drinking soda it would get better. I knew that this goal would be challenging to accomplish, but I was up for it. I knew if I tried hard to achieve this that I would be setting myself to be a healthier

material into smaller amounts of information to help her avoid feeling overwhelmed” (p. 63). This compares to my point in being hopeful. I was hopeful for my dad to get better and to get through his condition, as Beatty had hoped her patient (Lauren) would get through her challenge about being overwhelmed with her child. I believe nurses did to maintain a hopeful and optimistic attitude to support their
I usually just eat, watch some Netflix to escape my shame, or go to sleep. I usually don’t talk to anyone because it makes me feel weak and vulnerable. Over the years I have learned to be a little more open and try to remember that I have people are around who care about me and have my back when I encounter these issues.
My health goal was to change my eating habits. I chose this goal because I have a bad habit of not eating as well as I should. Although I usually do not eat fast food, I eat a lot of carbs. I was raised in an Italian family so macaroni and pizza are my two worst enemies. I figured that if I used this project to get rid of my bad eating habits, I would have an easier time eating healthy after this class ends. Before starting the project I realized that there will be challenges, but this project was not meant to be simple. If behavior change was simple, then anyone would be able to change behavior whenever they wanted to.
Online resources such as ‘Google Scholar’, ‘Microsoft Academic’ and ‘Refseek’ were used to find relevant online articles and information that allowed me to gain a better understanding on the topic of karate. By doing this, I was able to refine my question from being a broad question more of a detailed and precise question. The majority of information I found was reliable but not relevant to my question. For example, some of the sources I found were companies promoting their business by presenting the rewards an individual can obtain from training karate. This was unreliable as it was bias towards the company being advertised therefore I had to decide on a better way to gather reliable information. I did this by slightly changing what I was researching to ensure I found valuable information related to my question. Even though this didn’t eliminate the bias of sources, it narrowed the bias so I could focus more on analysing the information presented by each article. By using this research process, I was able to discover valid statistics that was supported by a survey I created in order to gain primary research. The statistics I found was advantageous as
In conclusion, there is nothing healthy about diet soda and it is simply water with artificial sweeteners and other additives, especially phosphoric acid. So the less soda you drink, the better. In addition, people should not keep sodas in their home such as refrigerator because it is a big temptation. Instead, people can put healthier options include fresh juice, low fat milk, green tea, hot chocolate, and ginger tea. Moreover, people should drink more water instead of reaching for diet soda. Liquid helps human’s body get rid of toxins that can cause a big risk for diseases like cancer. As you know, water has zero calories so it is one of the healthiest ways for people to stay hydrated. According to my research, people should drink at least
Think of the countless times at a restaurant you have been put on the spot to choose a beverage once seated by the waiter. Considering what you may have heard about sugar- free soda, would the possibly harmful affects it may have on your body outweigh the number of calories you may be saving by allowing you to consume a high calorie meal? To some, artificially sweetened carbonated beverages, such as diet soda, have the same delicious taste as regular soda, but only with the satisfaction of knowing the beverage spares calories to compensate in a high calorie meal. Some people enjoy nothing more than a nice cold glass of sugar-free and calorie free diet soda to wash down
Like that wasn't enough, the same can would increase your risk of developing metabolic syndrome by 36%. This syndrome is a clustering of 5 conditions: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, obesity, and high glucose levels. I don't know anyone who would risk having any of these conditions. It may cause you a heart attack: If you're not afraid of diabetes or high blood pressure, know that the risk of cardiac problems such as heart attacks or strokes is more than 40% higher for diet soda drinkers, even when compared to normal soda drinkers. It could lead to depression:
What is your favorite soda? Coke? Do you know what is in soda? Cutting down on soda can lead to a healthy and better lifestyle. Studies show that soda, though it tastes good, has many negative effects that outweigh the positive effects. Soda, especially diet, is detrimental to the health of your body.
I chose my mother for this assignment because she has a few bad habits like drinking 5 or 6 cans of soda as well as eating fast food on an everyday basis. Even before we started this assignment I was already pushing her in that direction. I started a diet 3 months ago and I have a lot of results from doing it. She would always ask me what I was doing to get so some much. So this assignment a perfect storm for her.

To achieve overall better health you will need to limit your soda consumption. It is necessary.
The project sounded straightforward enough, it was to pick a behavior and modify it. The instructions were clean, cold, and calculated, akin to the mood of my beloved behaviorists. Understanding the genius of this project was not the difficult part, I was eager to begin to test my ability at applying the knowledge of behavioral modification. The difficult part for me was finding the motivation to act on that understand. At the start I thought it would be a simple application of knowledge that would require some jumping through hoops and mental trickery to become interesting. However, that began to change with each pencil mark on my behavioral log indicating that I’ve picked at my lip once again. As these marks accumulated so did thoughts that fed my curiosity. Like why do I engage in behavior that are obviously harmful, why are behaviors so difficult to change once they become habit and why do the answers still evade me ever after studying them? Thinking back throughout my life and seeing this pattern of acting without really knowing why that fit perfectly into that present moment drove me to a state of near epiphany. That process created a driving need to get the most out of this project making it successful because it taught me rich lessons about human behavior, behavior modification and my ability of creating behavior treatment plans. All of which are highly useful areas of expertise that will, if mastered bring wealth beyond imagination.
