1. List a daily schedule for the classroom that you are participating in.
• Students enter the class in the morning, and put their things on their hook
• Students have free play for about 20 minutes
• Students then participate in an art project
• Students go to circle time, where the teacher leads songs and goes over the daily expectations
• Students are dismissed to go to their table to eat breakfast
• Students grab their jackets, and go outside to play for about 30 minutes
• Students return inside to have free play
• Students go to circle time again, and the teacher reads a book
• Students then go to the table to eat lunch
• Students are dismissed to their cots for a 2-hour nap time
• Students have free play, until they are picked up from

Name the adults with who you will interact in the classroom. Briefly describe each person’s role in the early childhood program.
Ms. Leah is the lead teacher. Her role is to manage behavior, plan activities for the students, and lead the activities. Ms. Leah’s assistant is Ms. Katie. Ms. Katie works behind the scenes to ensure that the classroom runs smoothly. Ms. Katie sets up breakfast, and lunch while Ms. Leah is doing circle time with the kids. Ms. Katie also places cots down, while the students are eating lunch. If there are behavior problems during whole group time, Ms. Katie will pull a kid to the side to talk to

Leah’s goals is to help the students become independent. Ms. Leah lets students get supplies for themselves, and clean up for themselves. If a student asks for help, Ms. Leah will ask if the student has tried to do it themselves. Ms. Leah will watch, and give hints of how to do something, rather than do it for the kids. I also think Ms. Leah’s goal is to prepare her students for kindergarten. Ms. Leah provides circle time for the class, and will only call on students who are raising their hand, sitting quietly, and facing forward. Ms. Leah also makes sure the students are in a straight line, before they go anywhere. Enforcing and practicing these skills is preparing the students for whole group time in elementary
In an informal discussion between myself and the class teacher we would determine our roles throughout the activities, what teaching styles will be used to match the needs of the individual children or groups. Discussing the individual children and preparing to provide additional support ensuing all needs are met, any barriers that may become apparent during the lesson can be overcome without fuss.
The special education teacher did not have to be her sole teacher, but the general education teachers were not really communicating with the special education teacher unless they were complaining or disregarding her advice. The general education teachers could have been using the special education teacher as a resource to brainstorm ideas with about Juanita’s education, but instead they tended to ignore her advice. There were also may issues regarding the roles each teacher played. The general education teacher was doing the very minimum for Juanita when it came to addressing her behavior and school work and leaving it all up to the special education teacher to instill discipline during
Chapter two discusses various theorists that helped to mold and shape early childhood education to where it is today. There are several different theorists that contributed to the development of early childhood education. Some of these theorists include Alfred Adler, Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and John Dewey. Each theorist developed a unique theory that has caused early childhood guidance and education to flourish like it has today. Without learning and building on these theories, early childhood guidance and education would never develop or change. The chapter explains how some theories may seem strange to the contemporary families, but these theories are the foundation of how early childhood education got to where it is today. The book goes
You are the director of a preschool program that serves children ages three to five. You are giving a presentation to teachers and parents to encourage partnerships in
“Early roots of play as a best practice for early learning was documented by Plato, a Greek philosopher, who insisted that play is considered a natural activity of childhood.”(Ingrid Crowther, 2011, Pg. 2) Early Childhood Education is a term that refers to educational programs that are devoted to children from birth to the age of eight. “Children of this age learn by exploring and investigating; therefore, their environment should support and encourage this process.”(Rebecca Isbell and Betty Exelby, 2001, Pg. 11) Early childhood environments should be attractive and exciting. These environments should allow children to work and play using proper resources, materials, and tools.
When asked about how this impacts her instruction and instructional time, she said greatly. She alters most everything for each student and group that they are working and developing at his or her level and pace. She mentions that it can be difficult to meet all of the student’s needs with just her in the classroom and only 15 minutes a day with the support staff for their grade. However, she has seen great improvement with students as the year went on.
I learned the day before my visit, Miss Suzy threw a pizza party for the children. The day of my visit they were going to make their own individual pizzas (I did not get to view that part of the day). I noticed that during circle time, two children seemed uninterested had wandered off. Miss Suzy did not do anything about it, she just let them be. I thought that was wrong of her because the two children were not being involved. The children could of already known what they were speaking about. If that was the case she should of given them some work to do. When circle time was over, Miss Suzy asked each child which part of the room they wanted to play in. Students chose dramatic play, arts and crafts, reading, and playing on the computer. Miss Suzy walked around each group asking them questions, expanding their imaginations. Morrison states "that teachers work with gingival children, small groups" (2003, p.232). Watching Miss Suzy, you can see she really enjoys what she does. She never once ignored a student who went up to her. She seemed genuily interested when the children shared stories with her. She always welcomed them with a hug when walking into the room in the morning to begin their day, and the children would come in running to hug her.
Knowing how to address a variety of situations in the early childhood setting and effectively partnering with parents to do so are important skills for all teachers and caregivers. For this assignment, you will choose one of the following scenarios:
Early education for children is very crucial as it helps shape up the foundation of their knowledge and behavior development process. Children begin to develop the sense of curiosity from the age of two. And from age 2-8, children go through a very crucial period of mental development, which shapes up their future mindset (Grayson, 2016). Early children education (ECE) has been listed as the number one priority of the National Association of Education. The teachers or educators at nursery and primary level are responsible to for developing young children’s sense of knowledge and education. In this paper, we will assess the roles and skills that are vital for an early childhood educator. Moreover, the paper will also present a
Throughout the ECCE 1101 Introduction to Early Childhood course at Savannah Technical College there were several theorists introduced in the course that had a major impact on molding the foundation for an understanding of early childhood as a whole. Although the scope covered a broad spectrum of early childhood, majority of the main focus was on early education. The work of Lev Vygotsky greatly influenced the field of early education. This paper will include a brief summary of Vygotsky’s life, a description of his major ideas, and how those ideas impact early education today.
The philosophy for our district is pretty straight forward in my opinion, including a clearly defined evidenced-based instruction for all students, while providing a respectful, responsible, and safe environment. One of the main roles that Terri said she needs to supervise is the use of instructional minutes. This is a very important component of her job and one that “the district takes very seriously.” Terri discussed that she really enjoys working for the School District of Monroe because the school board is very supportive of innovative practices and instructional strategies that emphasize student engagement. The middle and high school are both 1:1 with technology and grades 4-5 will be next year. Each elementary school also has classroom I Pads that teachers can utilize with their students.
The paper reviews an Infant and Toddler Childcare Program. The Rising Stars Childcare Center is designed for children age birth to 36 months. Rising Stars is a place for children to learn and explore in a safe and stable environment. We are a high-quality childcare center that focuses on each individual child’s needs. Our facility sets high standards for our staff to follow to ensure each child receives developmentally appropriate materials. In the first section of the text, the philosophy of the program is discussed, followed by the infant and toddler curriculum, and the indoor and outdoor layouts of the childcare facility. The purpose of this paper is to allow parents, families, and all visitors seek a better insight on how The Rising Stars Childcare Center operates. The evidence in this paper was retrieved from different literary and media sources. Overall, this paper proves that The Rising Stars Childcare Center strives to be seen as a high quality facility and is operating in the best ways possible by providing the best developmentally appropriate learning environments for young children.
The education of the young mind is an important step in preparing the child for future learning experiences. The evolution of early childhood education has changed how adults and parents view the importance of offering stimulating and exciting opportunities to the very young. Early childhood Education offers the young child learning experiences that benefit them throughout their educational career. They soon embark on a whole new world of learning. These children are not only experiencing standard brain growth, but verbal and physical skills as well. Early childhood education teachers use a variation of techniques for instructing. They use lesson plans, worksheets, and even teacher resources for these young minds.
There are three teachers in the classroom, one does reading/lesson circle with a small group of students, another does arts and crafts, and one of them circulates throughout the room helping students with their work-plans. The teacher that circulates around the room all the time appears to be the head teacher and when a conflict arises she is the one to mediate it. The way that the teachers speak with the children is as if they are equals, they aren’t talked down to and the students give the teachers complete respect.
When the children first arrive, all the preschoolers gather in the hallway before going to their classroom. After entering the classroom, they all sit on the alphabet rug in the front of the classroom and take their folders and lunch boxes out of their book bags. Then they proceed back to the hallway to put out book bags and coats in their lockers and use the restroom. After they are finished washing their hands, back in the classroom they find a seat for breakfast time. When everyone is finished they throw their trash away and have 30 minutes of free time to play, before its time to go outside. When we first got outside I did my writing lesson with them, having them write the first letter of their names on the sidewalk with chalk. It took about 10-15 minutes to do the lesson and after that they had 40 minutes to play on the playground. We went out earlier than normal because people where coming in to do an assessment on a little girl. When we got back inside they went to the restroom and then got a drink from the water fountain.
