Module 2 contained lots of very useful information that I can use in the future, If I ever become an instructor. I am glade that we had an extra week to digest all that information. At first when I read the chapter in the book, my head was spinning. Then I started to compartmentalize everything and things become much clearer. Bloom’s Taxonomy is something that I have to keep reviewing to fully understand. I think I got the hang of writing goals and objectives, especially after reading everyone’s posts and the corrections. Now regarding the the syllabus assignment, I think it was a great way to practice exploratory learning. At first I had difficulty finding a worthy syllabus online, especially because I got used to the high quality syllabi
When I first started this course I didn’t know what to expect. I really enjoyed writing but there was a lot of areas that I needed to work on. When I first started to review the modules I was blown away by all the helpful sites that were at my disposition. The Power points and different sites completely changed my whole perspective of writing to a whole new dimension. Thanks to the modules I am more confident right now before I even begin an essay. I remember in the past how beginning an essay was so difficult for me because I didn’t know how to even start. In this course I have learned how to begin an essay, how to manipulate information, and how to use in-text documentation properly. These are just some of the few things that I will definitely be taking with me in the future for my courses and personal growth.
Overall the book was a good read and touched on some various topics that are discussed in our class.
There was such a variety of topics covered in this course and I wish that I had taken it in a classroom instead of online. With this online course, I feel like the material went a little too quickly. If I were in a classroom setting, I feel that
I liked everything about this course. The seminars, study plans, and the weekly discussions help
1) One of the aspects I really enjoyed for this chapter is it is all about different ways writing can be used besides writing an essay paper in High school. I remember in high school how if I had to type a paper or write a paper how I hated it because you had to go through the process of writing and analyzing a paper and it always had to be 3 pages long. Chapter 2 is all about taking your students write more, which I thought would be a horrible idea, but have them write different things besides an essay paper.
Module two focused on the nervous and endocrine systems. I learned about the structure and function of the nervous system. I learned about the way it reacts to different stimuli and which parts of the nervous system are reacting. I did an assignment where I explored different scenarios when each part of the nervous system would act. I also talked about the anatomy of the brain and the function of each region. The assignment that best helped me to grasp this concept was the honors summative. Locating and giving image descriptions for each part of the brain really helped me. Finally, I learned about the endocrine system and hormones. I found it really interesting to learn what parts of my body and what chemicals are causing the feelings that I fell in different situations. As I have gone through life since this module, I try to think about hormones and my nervous system when I am in a certain situation and feeling a certain way. I try to think about what is causing the way that I am feeling and it
Did anything surprise you as you rated your school on the elements you learned about in the module? Please explain.
By doing Module 1 of this course I had opportunity to think about my career as a teacher. In order for me to improve learners’ learning I have to create for them appropriate environment using different teaching strategies in which every learner feels respected and safe. Learners need to know that learning has a purpose and what they are learning it is relevant to their lives. Also it is important to provide them with feedback regarding their progress on what they are trying to achieve, how far they are from the goal that was set. And how to achieve all I have to keep on trying new things and improving teaching skills. The actual teaching, classes I attended for this course gave me opportunity to better myself as a teacher. I learned about teaching principals from our teaching classes, later applied my knowledge in my actual teaching practice and also learned about teaching ideas through the web. From all these I understood that my development as a teacher should never end because teaching is a part of a life-long
I have learned so many things out of this class that would be very useful to me in the future. Also, I don’t think that if I truly want to write about all the things I have learned from this class it would all fill a 2 pages paper. However, the three main things that I have retained from this include how to write a response paper, how to read a book better, and how to better write essays.
Discuss how this course has affected you in your development as a student and explain how it has prepared you for academic success.
I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place.
Beginning with the literary context to the different themes; which happened to be one of my favorites, the class was informative and instructive. I have found that journaling what I am reading about has come to a new level. For example, I have been reading the book of Job and for each chapter I am breaking down what is happening, and putting it more as a bullet point process rather than a writing out every detail process. I have found that it actually helps me remember what was said in each chapter, and that it is easier to repeat back what I have read. My next step is to break it down even more to the knowing what audience it was for, and what were the key things that I can pull from the book and any themes it may have. And although I did not get to read the text book word for word, I am going to enjoy going back and studying it more in dept. This was a great class and I greatly enjoyed
The most rewarding assignment from this class for me was the Individual Exploratory Project. This assignment allowed me to use the tools I learned from assignments before, such as adding voice and personality from the memoir and efficient researching from the rhetorical analysis. I really enjoyed this assignment because it was not written as a typical essay and allowed me to research each question I had as I went through my writing. I enjoyed this assignment because it also taught me that writing is an endless process of ideas and questions. It also helped me to continue developing skills for effectively searching for articles and responding to them.
In conclusion, so far in this class I have found many things meaningful to me. The academic success skills and tools they shared with myself and the class have actually helped me complete this essay in a timely manner. I am beyond thankful to have three great instructors to teach me more about the great Midland University and what it all has to offer. I believe that if I make the most out of this class, I am more likely to find success in the future. Module One has had a positive impact on my student life and I am beyond excited to learn more every week in the following
Turns out the least helpful section of this course in my opinion was the chapter on actively reading. I have always been an avid reader and I’ve never had a problem with reading comprehension so most of the information and reading strategies that were presented in the text just sounded redundant and didn’t seem to apply to me. There isn’t much I would change about the course except for maybe the length of some writing assignments.
