Esthetician is a very demanding and challenging career; however I really feel that the rewards are actually great in the end. I also want to embark on this career and as a preliminary step I have used internet and books to gather details about the profession before making my serious decision of becoming an esthetician. I am eager to pursue a career by virtue of which I am able to care and assist people to become and feel ‘good’. Esthetician is a profession for reliable, dedicated, and trusting people who are capable to develop cordial relationships with masses quickly. I possess all these skills genuinely and thus I want to make a difference to people in improving their image, enhancing their self-confidence, and overall health. I am confident of embracing this real world challenge and to take benefits of these opportunities and transformations by utilizing them to excel in my career as an esthetician.

Cosmetology is the “study or art in cosmetics and their use”. By the time I am 27 and a post graduate student, I would hope to be doing something close to my major of physical therapy. The path to obtaining an esthetician license is something that is really exciting, as well as a profession, which I feel very comfortable working in. Obtaining an esthetician license will provide financial stability for myself and will help me identify myself in this particular career path. According to Carper (1978), empirics knowledge is the science of nursing, esthetics is the art of nursing and personal knowledge of nursing. I used empirics knowledge when my clinical instructor asked us some questions in regards to the process. From experience of spending a lot of time in the hospital with all of my grandparents I’ve been able to watch how the nurses interact with patients and learn from them. Esthetics knowledge was used when I was performing the skills during the bed bath. The personal knowledge in the experience was when I understood that the patient could be feeling uncomfortable and tried reassuring that I knew the technique and that I was able to do it. Understanding their feelings and trying to ease the feelings of the patient is an example of personal knowledge.
