The battle of King’s Mountain is the topic that I have chosen. The battle was between the Patriots and the Loyalists. The Patriot’s militia was called the Green Mountain Boys and the Loyalist’s militia was the Hessians. The war happened in King’s Mountain, South Carolina on October 7, 1780. This battle was a great triumph for the American Patriots. That area was the death of the British militia leader Patrick Ferguson.
The Patriots were the Americans that were against the British and vigorously supports their country. The Loyalists or Tories are the people who support the British king or the British government. The Green Mountain Boys had a major part in this war because they were the ones to defeat the British in this battle. The Hessians were the German troops hired by the British to help fight during the American Revolution. They were from the German state of Hesse-Cassel. This wasn’t the first time that we have fought the Loyalists in battle there is countless more.

This started a conflict with the Overmountain Men. Isaac Shelby wasted no time and saddled up his horse and rode 40 miles to the house of John Sevier, a militia leader. The militia leaders decided to go fight Ferguson.
The Patriots sent their scouts to find the location of Ferguson. Learning that the scouts have found him near Charlotte, the Patriots moved quickly to go encounter him. On the morning of October 7, the Patriots found out that Ferguson was on top of Little Kings Mountain. Ferguson made the statement that he was on King’s Mountain, and he was the king of that mountain and God Almighty could not take him off of it. He would soon live up to that

This paper will examine the British and American Southern Loyalist defeat in the Battle of Kings Mountain and discuss the assumptions the British made including loyalist support, logistic support, and terrain advantage.
The war seemed to separate the colonists into three separate groups. Ones that were loyal to Britain, which were called “loyalists”. Most loyalists had “business ties” with Britain and saw being on Britain’s side of the war as being “defenders”. While other loyalists despised those that rebelled and assumed their reason to rebel was to obtain more money from the empire. The second group was with George Washington called the “Patriots”, who were fighting for the freedom from Britain, and the third group were people that were trying to go about their lives and not get involved in the war. Though slaves were asked to participate in the war, most went to Britain’s side in exchange for freedom. In 1775, Washington and his army win the battle at Saratoga and this ultimately wins over France as an
Battle of Oriskany occurred on August 6, 1777, when the local Tryon County Militia attempted to come to the relief of the besieged Fort Schuyler (Stanwix). On July 30, 1777, the militia's commander, General Nicholas Herkimer, had ordered his men to begin assembling at Fort Dayton (located in the modern Herkimer area). By August 4, around 800 of the militia were assembled and ready to begin the march to relieve Ft. Schuyler. The militia brigade was composed of four regiments, mostly of Palatine German immigrants or descendants: The 1st (Canajoharie) Regiment under Col. Ebenezer Cox, the 2nd (Palatine) Regiment under Col. Jacob Klock, the 3rd (Mohawk) Regiment under Col. Fredrick Visscher, and the 4th (Kingsland-German Flatts) Regiment under Col. Peter Bellinger.
They were loyal to the American government and were mostly interested in the war. They wanted America to get the justice they believed it deserved and were ready to do whatever it took to do so. Not all patriots were interested in war just a few years after the American revolution, but a particular group called the “Warhawks” definitely were. The Warhawks wanted to go to war with Britain and were quite happy to hear about the call to arms in 1812, mainly, because they had suggested president Madison to do so. Having patriots in America may have been why their army was stronger than the British, Americans were more enthusiastic about the war.
The war had begun in the spring of 1861 and somewhat ominously for the Union.
This week I decided to tackle the Battle of Moultrie that occurred n June 28th, 1776. This battle is also named the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, which occurred between the British and American Continentals and militia.1 The British were led by General Sir Henry Clinton and the Americans were under the overall command of General Lee and his subordinate, General William Moultrie.2 The British began make preparations for their southern operations during the war in January 1776 and assigned General Clinton as overall commander.3

Major General Lord Cornwallis beat Major General Gates and The American Revolutionary Army in Camden. His intention was to invade North Carolina and Virginia. Major Furguson had an outpost to the west of the British Army. He had a small force of riflemen and a larger amount of Tory Milta.
Loyalists were people who remained loyal to the king of England. This means that when the patriots wanted independence, loyalists didn’t. At that time loyalists were also called tories, royalists or king’s men. Loyalists had peaceful forms of protest because they believed that violence would create trouble. Also, King George lll would tax the colonies a lot, but the loyalists didn’t mind because they thought it was for a good cause.

The Battle of Kalavrye was fought in 1078 between the Byzantine imperial forces of general (and future emperor) Alexios Komnenos (pictured) and a force led by the rebellious governor of Dyrrhachium, Nikephoros Bryennios the Elder. Bryennios had rebelled against Michael VII Doukas (reigned 1071–78) and had won over the allegiance of the Byzantine army's regular regiments in the Balkans. Even after Doukas's overthrow by Nikephoros III Botaneiates (r. 1078–81), Bryennios continued his revolt, threatening Constantinople. After failed negotiations, Botaneiates sent the young general Alexios Komnenos to confront him. The two armies clashed at Kalavrye on the Halmyros river. Komnenos, whose army was considerably smaller and far less experienced, tried
