S.W.O.T. Analysis
The S.W.O.T. analysis for the Cinicinnati Art Museum is what gives the viewer the information to easily see what is wrong and isn’t wrong with the museum, while providing information on possibilities the museum can capitalize on and what threats could harm the museum. The strengths were not hard to identify. I identified six different ones, all self-explanatory. Free admission, membership purchases, host of traveling exhibits, host of special events (weddings, parties, etc.), the museum is located in a popular area of Cincinnati (Mt. Adams), and they have an expansive art collection (60,000 pieces of work). All of these are huge postives for the art museum that can be capitalized on if done properly. The

There are opportunities though, and they are good opportunities. I was able to identify three that they should pay attention to and really hit hard on. In today’s economy, people aren’t wanting to spend a lot of money. The recession is making people be a lot more conscious about money. Good news, the museum is free. If marketed properly, this could be a huge way to gain new visitors. Plus, art museums have sophisticated connotations that make people feel smart when they go to them. What better way to spend the day than to go somewhere that is free and feel sophisticated? Another opportunity is that new exhibits could attract younger demographics, pending on the exhibit. This could be tricky though because they want to attract everyone, but older crowds are interested in things that younger generations aren’t. They have to be able to balance the attractions so everyone can relate to it and want to view it. When it comes to threats, there aren’t many. There are mainly two, competition and free admission. Competition is obviously a threat because when people think to go somewhere or bring there kids somewhere and they don’t think of the art museum, that is a visitor lost. They need to be the first place someone thinks of when they think “free” and “informative”, and frankly, they aren’t for the most part. The Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal and the Children’s Museum have the top of mind awareness that the
Museums have long served a purpose as cultural staples. For every museum, big and small, careful consideration is used in selecting its contents. When securing new items for a museum, it is most important to consider public appeal, educational value, and cost-effectiveness.
Cleveland has been fortunate enough to have become home several popular museums, including The Cleveland Museum of Art. The museum is filled with impressive masterpieces from the beginning of human documented time to today’s world. This free exhibit offers an exciting, enjoyable experience to those of all ages and those of all backgrounds. From the interactive futuristic portions of the building, to the delicate works of the past, there is something at this museum to please each person’s artistic mindset.
The Carnegie Museum of Art was a museum created to focus on the art of tomorrow rather than already popular art and artists of today. A necessary part for that dream of Andrew Carnegie to become a reality is having a place to house these art pieces. While of course he could have just found an empty warehouse and placed all the art there that would neither have given the pieces of art justice nor would anyone want there personal collection to be placed on display there. Instead, in order to have a successful art museum you have to house the art in a place that does it justice. Museums heavily rely on their architecture to accurately portray and supplement the showpieces within the museum. Carnegie’s art museum
This unique and contemporary event provides patrons with live entertainment, food and drink as they revel in the wonders the museum has to offer. Carrie Martin’s aim is to attract at least 3,500 visitors for the grand opening and maximize profits. Corporate capabilities, competitors, and consumers will be examined to develop an effective marketing plan.
I believe that if the museum had taken into the consideration the feelings of the people who were unhappy with the exhibit. By doing so they could have made changes that would have made everyone happy.
There is an art to travel and in the course of my travels I’ve visited the Tate Gallery and British Museum in London, and seen the Book of Kells in Dublin. I’ve spent countless hours in front of the statue of David in Florence and was captivated by Caravaggio at the Uffizi, and rendered speechless by the masterpieces of Rembrandt and van Gogh at the Rijksmuseum. Art is a lesson in life, and there are many facets to learn while living this experience with art. The first lesson learned is that art is an interactive experience. I used to approach going to a museum as a recipient, a static life force waiting to be moved by inanimate objects. However this experience with the children taught me to tap into my creativity more often, to always try to get new insight and a fresh perspective, and finally to be open to what the artist, or life for that matter, is trying to communicate. Art is not only a reflection of life, it enhances
The last time I ever visited The Philadelphia Art Museum was in the sixth grade. At the time, I did not care much for art nor appreciated it. I was ignorant to how beautiful and meaningful art actually is. Most importantly, I never recognized the talented artists within the museum. However, as I grew older I became more interested with art. I wanted to learn the different principles, techniques, and methods on how to create art. Taking art classes throughout high school and now college, has made me find a new value and love for art. Art is truly a treasure.
Not every student learns easily by reading a textbook, many students learn better with visuals, listening, and experience and prefer to learn that way. The Met provides NYC students with different ways to learn about what is being taught in class. In many cases students are just reading what they need for homework or memorizing facts for a test. With visiting The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC teenagers are giving the opportunity to not just memorize, but understand the matter. Not only would this museum help students by letting them learn about history through the important artifacts and art in each exhibit, they can listen to the significance of them with the audio guides. Walking through the museum could help them understand not only their
In this day and age, art museum websites are some of the most pleasant websites to visit. They are known for their eye-catching graphics, beautiful works of art, and excellent organization. Art museum websites inform readers about artists, the museum itself, artwork and history. For example, the Met website or the Frist website are they are both famous websites that function correctly. However, the Met website is better and more effective than the Frist website because it contains superior display, content, and organization.
A way that you could learn in an art museum would be, by the art that people made from over time, could teach you how people lived and did things, and what things use to look like. That's just one great reason to go to and art museum.
Art galleries and museums are buildings or spaces used exclusively for the exhibition and education of art, but that’s not all. Galleries and museums are an essential part of our society. Art in itself transcends cultural diversity and differences; the museums and galleries that display art present to us insight into the various cultures, backgrounds, and communities in an unprejudiced environment. They also provide a significant impact on local and state economics. According to the 2007 Americans for the Arts report Arts & Economic Prosperity III, In Nashville alone the art and culture industry provides 5,667 full-time jobs and generates 15.64 million in local and state government revenue. With so much riding on the prosperity of such
The protection and preservation of artifacts of historic purposes and value have been a concerned of the government and the people to learn about the past to help understand the future. To carry out this need the museum was created as a place built to have high valuable artifacts in one secured convent place. Eventually these high valuable artifacts will become high valuable targets. This would result in a security system to prevent and protect these artifacts.
When you think about an art museum, a certain atmosphere comes to mind. White rooms, well dressed people walking from painting to painting, quietly discussing things like ‘artist's gaze’ and ‘impressionist inspired modernism.’ If you are like most people, this atmosphere is probably not one you think of with great affection. It is not welcoming or accessible to people without a fine arts education, a demographic also known as most Americans. In a study done at the Gardner Museum in Boston “60% of the target demographic [25-35] through of large museums as robotic[...]‘uncomfortable and intimidating.’”(DePrizio). People in America no longer see art as something comfortable, or familiar. But why is do people feel so alienated by art? Most schools
Furthering your education in different techniques and your ability to properly critique an artwork will boost your understanding and appreciation for a piece. Also, increasing your knowledge of art history will give you the needed information to comprehend where everything began and and how much we have improved. In the world today, technology is used for everything, but sometimes, you just need to go an look at things in real life. The experience you gain from actually viewing such masterpieces with your own eyes will make you realize that the art you see on the Internet and in books are much more magnificent seeing them in a museum. You can see the work and details put into it to complete the entire picture and create a sense of emotions
‘The Louvre’ is the museum I researched, and ‘Virgin of the Rocks’ is the painting I decided to choose. The Louvre Museum is the largest in the world, and is situated in Paris, France. Around 35,000 objects are exhibited over an area of around 40 square miles. The Louvre is also the second most visited museum in the world, trailing only the Palace Museum in China. The louvre has more than 9 million visitors annually. (Louvre, 2016)
