I think that they can be overpaid but some are doing it for all the people who watch them do what they do and I think that is awesome. They should be awarded for their efforts but not that much money because other people need money as much as they do. I think that they need to use that money for charity instead of just keeping it and not spending it without having to worry about overspending with what they get. They need to get out more and buy new clothes instead of just wearing what they normally do. “Jimmy Connors plays two tennis matches and winds up with $850,000 and Muhammad Ali fights one bout and winds up with five million bucks. Me, I play one-hundred and ninety games and I’m overpaid!!!-Johnny Bench.” This is a quote from Johnny Bench, …show more content…
The reason is that they are role models for the little kids around the world and without them there would be any where else to get the satisfaction and motivation. Because of them, children work even harder for the future so they can,one day, be like them and make name.” They might have colleagues that help encourage them like their teammates on the sidelines. They also work their tails of just to entertain us and everyone in the world. People say they only do it for girls. I think they are playing for a different reason, not to get a girl. Now high school maybe do it for a girl they like, but not in college basketball. Some of the players are working for their kids futures. He has three kids, named Lebron James Jr.,Zhuri James, and Bryce Maximus James. His oldest son, Lebron James Jr., is already getting offers from colleges even though he is 12 years old. Michael Jordan was dubbed the nickname “Magic Jordan” One day after Magic …show more content…
People believe that we waste money on athletes. Some athletes like Vince Young is one of the ones that has a bad habit of spending a lot of money on junk. John Daly is a former professional golfer that spent over 12.5 million dollars in Las Vegas. He, along with other people, have spent millions of dollars on junk they wanted or didn’t need. I personally it is ridiculous that they earn that much money in one year. Michael Jordan spend and makes about 80 million dollars a year and spends it on houses, planes, and boats. I think that he needs to donate some money to some schools so the school of his choice can either rebuild or update or do more stuff for the kids. John Cena spends over six million dollars on his theme
First off, athletes give time and effort to maintain a successful career. It’s not like athletes go out and only play one game a day or so. Pro athletes put in a lot of training, studying, and everything they’ve got. They are very dedicated and love the game
People use the term professional athlete very loosely. When making an argument that professional athletes are overpaid, people must keep in mind that this includes all types of athletes. Not every professional athlete makes money like Kobe Bryant and Floyd Mayweather. Some professional athletes are hardworking individuals like any athlete, and they hardly make a living for being so talented. At least, compared to other highly talented pro athletes. It is unreasonable for some athletes to sign a contract for over thirty million dollars. However, society must think about how much income that player, in particular, generates for their team. That specific athlete, whom everyone is familiar with, will bring fans to watch the games and witness that professional perform. Additionally, there is a likely chance that those people will convince others to spend money on those player’s merchandise. In the end, professional athletes being overpaid will always be debated amongst society. All I ask, in particular, is that people visualize the broader perspective, and that not all professional athletes are millionaires. There are still many professional athletes who work at the same constant pace as any other athlete, yet still struggle to pay the
Do pro athletes deserve to get paid so much? People are saying that pro athletes get paid too much money even though they get most of their money from sponsorships and being role models. Athletes should continue getting paid the same price as they already do. First, athletes deserve to get paid a lot of money because of the sponsorships they have. Also, they give spectators something to watch with their extreme skills. Lastly, they are role models for kids to give their best efforts in sports. Overall, athletes deserve to get paid a lot of money because it’s for good reasons.
Athletes in the United States are overpaid. Do they really need that much money for just playing a sport? There are people who save lives such as firefighters or nurses who do not get paid nearly that.
It’s good for athletes and entertainers to earn the millions they get. Most of the time. they will give it back to the community. I think that athletes and entertainers should get paid the millions they earn because they’re putting on a show for the people around the world.
While their career brings entertainment and can also be viewed as being role models for aspiring young athletes they still do not serve the community in the same manner as a police officer, fireman, soldier or teachers. People that fulfill these roles in the community is much more heroic and influential. Athletes are not only overpaid they also earn wages from sponsorships. Most have more money than they could spend in their life time. It would be extremely admirable if they donated a portion of their money to help poverty stricken populations however, most do not and choose to live decadent lifestyles and not give back to the
Are professional athletes paid too much? Do they really need millions of dollars for playing a sport? There are many that believe sports stars deserve the money they make, but is that really true? Professional athletes get paid too much because they earn millions of dollars every season and there are jobs that are more important to our economy and yet they are still underpaid.
“The amount of a salary is very important, ... I think it's important for all professional athletes. We are evaluated by our own salaries.” As everyone thinks athletes are overpaid, they are paid by being evaluated which tells them the amount of money they earn. Athletes are not getting overpaid because they are paid by what they do and people don't like it. Athletes are not overpaid and do deserve the money they get.
Even though they have little time throughout their career, they can still make millions or billions of dollars. In five years, Lebron James will have been paid a total of three hundred and fifty five million dollars, and that is without profit from clothes and merchandise. He roughly makes $377,603 a game. That is more than half of what a nurse makes in a year. This says a lot about our society. If we pay athletes more than we do the people who work just as hard, that says that we honestly can’t see who really deserves it. It also says that we, as people and American citizens, don’t know the definition of hard work and fairness. Many people believe athletes deserve every penny they make, but other people believe the amount they receive should be dispelled. Anyone who has a job has to pay bills, and if you choose not to, you go to jail. A lot of people struggle and are deluged with paying bills and feeding their family. Athletes can throw their money around, pay bills, and still have some leftover to go to a five star restaurant and pay for their entire
“What does it say about our society when we pay athletes-men and women who play games for a living-millions more than we pay people who saves lives?”-Jesse Edelman. To begin, many citizens around the world love playing sports and watching sports. The fans support these athletes no matter what. The people who support the athletes are like any ordinary people who have jobs. They could be doctors, firefighter, engineers, and could even be the president. What if I told you that even the president will never earn the amount of money an NBA athlete earns in a year.
There is no question about it, athletes are paid much more than they should be. The fact that they take home millions of dollars more than the real heroes of society, like teachers or doctors, is a pure injustice. They also get paid ridiculous amounts in comparison to their fellow entertainers. If all of that wasn’t enough, this issue of
I agree that professional athletes and entertainers earn what they get paid. There is many bills that they have to pay on top of all the bills that we have to. They also can get hurt extremely bad. Some athletes and entertainers have to travel the world for their games or shows, and have to pay for it with their own money. Most people think that other jobs should get paid more and that's their opinion, i have i different one.
Even though some people say that athletes should get millions of money and, others think not.The athletes should not get so much money, because all the money they get should go to other things like children's hospital and charity. The first reason that is because they need it more than these athletes. The other reason why athletes should not get so much money,is becuase it could go to people who are in the hospital.Like people who have cancer.
In my opinion, actors/actresses and professional athletes are not overpaid. Their average in come is actually middle to low, the highest making performers and athletes are quite few, and we have a very skewed perception due to the media we are exposed to.
They should make less than the military and first responders, but still make enough to be rich because they are professional athletes and entertainers. In my opinion, there should be a limit in how much they can make.
