The Diary of a Young Girl written by Anne Frank takes the reader on a journey through the life of a young girl during the ruling of the Nazis. Anne was given a diary on her thirteenth birthday and she documents her day for three years. All through the book, Anne had to face many obstacles which helped her mature while she starts to fall in love with another housemate; this also helps Anne figure out who she is as a person. Anne Frank is: optimistic, funny, and sympathetic, theses are some qualities I look for in a friend. On Tuesday, 29, 1942 Anne writes, “Extraordinary things happen to people in hiding.” (Frank 35) This quote shows us as readers that Anne makes the best out of every situation, and as a friend you need someone who can make …show more content…
The internal conflict is how the Franks and Vandals must stay together in a small attic and tolerate each other. The conflict is man to man, and the conflict is not resolved by the end of the diary. Anne is forced to stay in the attic with seven other people, during this time Anne is during to develop as an adolescent. However, living in such tight corners does not give her the privacy to do so. Anne tries to be serious at the end of the book but nobody takes her seriously so she turns her seriousness into a joke. During Annes last diary entry she writes, “you’re uncharitable, you look peevish, people dislike you” (Frank 267) This shows how Anne starts to become self doubtful and self conscious. Anne doesn't see the good in herself and Anne needs someone to reassure her, but living in an attic with only eight people did not help her in this situation. No one was going to tell Anne she was going to be alright, the only person that made her feel appreciated was Peter. Anne also wrote that the impact of Hitler's anti-jewish laws made her family anxious and fearful. (Frank 3) The ruling of Hitler had a large impact on the jewish community and this is shown in the diary. They had to hide and make sure that they were being as secretive as they could be so nobody would find them. And at the end of the story they were still in the annex and Hitler was …show more content…
On Saturday, 1 May, 1943 Anne realizes that even though she is trapped in the annex, not allowed to go outside or be seen by pedestrians and they only have a small amount of food to eat. And then Anne realizes that she is very luck to be in hiding, while other Jews are in concentration camps being tortured. (Frank ) This shows that Anne is still staying optimistic while her world is being flipped around. She has not forgotten how she is been given such an amazing opportunity to stay safe from the outside world. Friday, 20 November, 1942 Anne know how bad the situation is outside for all of the Jewish community, but she knows that she has to keep everyone happy to avoid her family from becoming a depressing enviorment. (Frank ) This diary entry shows how Anne sees the light at the end of the tunnel and she figures out that her jokes is what keeps the family happy. Anne writes, “I’ve found that there is always some beauty left-in nature, sunshine, freedom, in yourself; these can all help. Look at these things, then you find yourself again, and God, and then you regain your balance. And whoever is happy will make others happy too. He who has courage and faith will never perish in misery.” (Frank 152) Anne has realized that she has become a better person while being in the annex, and believes that it is better to be positive than
The first part of the diary starts with her being a regular girl having fun and turns into a girl going into hiding with seven other people. In addition, she has to deal with relation problems with her mom, sister, and the people she is in hiding with. The problems begin when eight people are confined in a small area and everybody begins to irritate and annoy one another. Anne was especially concerned with herself and with her attitude towards the others in the group. She's mainly concerned with her mother who always treats her like baby. Mr. Frank tires to ease the quarrels between them by telling Anne to help out more around the house, but Anne stubbornly declines preferring to concentrate more on her studies. She especially gets plenty of confrontations with Mrs. Van Daan who thinks she is a spoiled little girl. Mrs. Van Daan constantly tells Anne’s father, “ If Anne were my daughter.” Anne’s respond to this in her diary was, “Thank heavens I’m not!” Of course
Even though Anne lived in confinement and in such circumstances she didn’t give up on herself and was still optimistic. This shows that Anne Frank is a strong person, at an early age she was able to not lose hope and still believed that people are really good at heart. She continued to grow as a person and still had positivity in
Throughout the entire book Anne remains hopeful that her life will get better. Ever through starvation, boredom, and fear, Anne is still hopeful at heart. When the family arrives at the annex and tries to make the best of the situation by saying, “I don't think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains” (171). Earlier on in the novel Anne had chosen to focus on the beauty beneath the fog of war and death. She keeps telling herself that There is still beauty in the world. Later in the story Anne makes a mature comment, she said, “It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals,

People can only imagine the terrors that the Jews and other ethnic groups had to go through during the Holocaust in World War II. With Anne Frank’s diary, people can finally put themselves into the scene and captivate all the feelings and sentiments that Anne Frank has poured onto the pages. Anne Frank, her family, and their friends were known for hiding from the German Nazis in the Secret Annex for two years from 1942-1944. Innocent and naive,
Don’t you hate it when your family and strangers treat you in a harsh way. Anne Frank was treated harshly by some people in the secret annex people would yell at her call her spoiled lazy and was always telling her what to do. But some people treated her nicely like Peter VanDaan and her dad in a way that made her feel loved by some people around her. Anne was a twelve year old girl when she was forced into hiding because she was a Jew in Nazi territory during WW2. Anne is treated by the people in the annex in many ways and that effects her character in such a way that changes her character.
"The Diary of Anne Frank" tells us a story about how her life as a Jew was drastically changing during the Holocaust and the start of World War II (WWII). She was a very intelligent young woman that had hopes and dreams. Anne was a normal teenager trying to find her way in life. All of that changed when the Nuremburg Race Laws were formed. Her father who was a World War I fighter hid his family and friends in a Secret Annex that was blended in with a normal neighborhood. As she lived for months in the Secret Annex, Frank had written her diary, full of her experiences in the Annex. Everything changed though, when she reached the end of her times in the Annex. Hitler's men had found Anne and her family and friends. This memoir adds in to the
Throughout her time in the “Secret Annexe,” (what she called their hiding space) Anne grew from a hot-headed child into a smart young woman. In the beginning of the book, only 2 months after going into hiding, she writes that feels grateful that her and her family have been spared the fate of some of her friends, however this also makes her feel guilty, because she can’t save those who didn’t get the chance to go into hiding. In her diary, on November 19, 1942, she wrote,“We’re so fortunate here, away from the turmoil. We wouldn’t have to give a moment’s thought to all this suffering if it weren’t for the fact that we’re so worried about those we hold dear, whom we can no longer help. I feel wicked sleeping in a warm bed, while somewhere out there my dearest friends are dropping from exhaustion or being knocked to the ground.” (paragraph 5 pg 55)
In 1933, the nazi took power in Germany, which cause depression to a lot of people. At the beginning, Nazi defy the Jews, Gypsies, and the disabled. In March 1933, the first concentration camp was built and later on more concentration and death camps were made. A family named the Franks went into hiding with the Van Daans in Amsterdam. In “Anne Frank” the characters face adversity and conflict like man vs self, man vs nature, and man vs man that makes the “Diary of Anne Frank” a wonderful story.
In the late 1930s and early 1940s the world experienced very traumatic events. Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany. He banned all political parties, except the Nazis. Two of the families that were affected by his changes were the Franks and the Van Daans. Anne Frank was a member of the Frank family. Her family and the Van Daans experienced what was happening personally. During the time that she was forced to go into hiding, she kept a diary with her. The diary has become very important item for learning about the events that happened. Historical events are reflected in the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” by showing how what’s happening in the outside world affects the families that have had to go into hiding.
Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.
Adolf Hitler was a horrible man, and he made Jew's lives horrible. Killing and torturing more than 6 million, just because they’re Jewish. The drama by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett shows that Anne Frank and 7 others crammed themselves into a secret annex building for 25 months straight. Little did they know, their few month hiding place became a few year hiding place. Hiding from the Nazis, the 8 always lived in faltering hope that the Allied Forces would come and save them from Hitler’s reign of terror. The historical events in The Diary of Anne Frank changed the behaviors of the characters as well as the relationships between characters.
As today’s teenagers connect less and less to the past and its lessons, it is necessary to reflect on the commonalities that our generation has with past generations like Anne Frank’s because we are more alike than it seems. Anne Frank went through many of our present-day problems that teens today face every day.
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is organized in chronological order and include the dates important to the Jewish author. On Anne’s thirteenth birthday, she receives a diary she calls “Kitty,” and this is where she records events that happened to her. Anne includes writings about her brief normal life and the life in the “Secret Annex.” She and her family are hiding from the Gestapo during WWII. As the story progresses, more Jews join the Franks. There is great conflict between Anne and the rest of the residents, though sometimes her father is “darling.” After a little more than two years in hiding, the German police discovered the secret Jews and sent them into labor camps, where Otto Frank was the only survivor. Anne matures and finds Peter at her side, even though there is tension between the other Van Daans and herself. Not only is there conflict between Mrs. Van Daan, but with Anne’s own mother and her roommate, Mr. Dussel.
