RELIGION
The three most important religious beliefs in China were Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. These people believed in many gods, making them polytheistic. Their gods were natural gods, river god, earth god, rain god
The most powerful was the sky god, T'ien, the king of all gods. Confucianism isn't really a religion; it is just the thoughts of this man and his disciples, concerned with the principles of good conduct, practical knowledge, and proper social relationships. Confucianism is a philosophy. Although he is a very important person in Chinese history, it still doesn't make it a religion, because he was never a god. Confucius was born in 551BC, and died in 479 BC; he lived during the Zhou dynasty. His father was a noble, but he died when Confucius was only a few years old. He grew as a poor person. When he was a teenager, he became very interested in learning. In those days, only the high-class people like nobles and kings were allowed and education, so it was hard for him to get one. So he went to work for a nobleman, and he learned much from him and he followed him everywhere, and that granted him a chance go to the capital. He studied a lot, he probably became the most intelligent and studied man at the time. He became known, and people sent their children to learn with him, and he was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn. According to Confucius, Confucianism is not a religion, it is a way
When comparing their religious views, Ancient South Asia and China were very different. In Ancient South Asia, they held that trees and animals were sacred because of their associations with vital forces. In comparison, Ancient Chinese people believed in their ancestor’s presence and they believed in their continuing influence. Family heads, in Ancient China, presided over the rites of honoring their ancestor’s spirits.
“Floodwater dashed up against the skies... God issued a command allowing Yu to spread out the self-replacing soil so as to quell the foods in the Nine Provinces.” This myth from China’s remote past may reflect stories about the efforts of early rulers to control the flood waters of the Huang River- the mighty river that has been central to Chinese civilization since the earliest of times.” (Holt, World History textbook, 76). China is located in the far east side of Asia. They have very rugged mountains in the west, some of the tallest in the world. In the south there are many plateaus, moving north; there are semi-deserts. The heart of China, the China Proper, has been significant though it’s early years. Ancient China and ancient India both consider religion to be very important. The main religions of China were Confucianism, Taoism, and Legalism. Tracing back the history of China, Xia Dynasty of the second millennium BCE was the earliest dynasty in China, which was centered along the Yellow River. Before China was unified, it was the time during which most of China's cultural tradition arose. Chinese civilization ascended and developed in a vast area, one-third larger than the United States if such dependencies as Manchuria, Inner Mongolia, and Tibet are included. For centuries China was almost completely isolated from the other centers of civilization by mountains, deserts, and seas. This isolation helps explain the great originality of China's culture. China has many mountain ranges and three river systems that rise close together on the high Tibetan plateau and flow eastward to
Ancient China is one of the oldest and longest lasting civilizations in the world. The Ancient Chinese have thrived for thousands of years because of the geography, their skills, and their talents. Throughout history, rivers such as the Yangtze and Huang He rivers made China thrive for thousands of years. While other features such as deserts and mountains like the Gobi, Himalayas, and the Taklimakan isolated the Chinese and kept other civilizations from culturally diffusing into Chinese lifestyle and culture.

China is located in the eastern part of Asia. China has a couple of different climates which include tropical and subarctic. The country is made up of mountainous areas as well as hilly and desert areas. Because of the diverse regions there are many natural resources that come from China. Some of these are; coal, tin, zinc, mercury, iron ore, petroleum, lead, and aluminum. The country is also known to have the highest potential for hydropower. Although China has many positives because of their commodities, there are also negative factors they have to face. These include natural disasters like typhoons and earthquakes, but they also include environmental issues like air pollution and water shortage which could affect their economy (World Economic Factbook).

Confucianism is not a religion but rather a philosophy, and it became the guiding religion of China in 121 CE. The ideas of Confucianism come from one man named Confucius, he believed that he knew how to bring peace to ancient China. Confucius created moral structure for social life and politics that everyone should follow. Confucianism is based on tradition and not the teachings of one ruling god. There are five basic relationships where the followers must understand their role of being superior or inferior. The Four Books and Five Classic are both books on Confucianism written before 300 BCE. They show the common value of belief systems in Confucianism. Basic beliefs are that if relationships were based on kindness and harmony there would
Confucius traveled through many cities in China, giving advice to its leaders, gathering a small number of students behind him. His writings include dealing with individual morality and ethics that deal with the proper exercise of political power by the rulers. Confucius blends the nature concept from Taoism, and the Buddhism concept of the afterlife that will bring forth a peaceful, coexistent amongst the religions. In the “Great Learning”, Confucius revealed the step by step process by which one attains self-development and by which it flows over into the common life to serve the state and bless mankind. Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, are the three teachings, in which their biblical theories impact the shaping of Chinese culture. Confucianism
