Jay’s testimony portrayed Adnan as this vengeful, master liar, and manipulator who had the characters of a killer. The State believed that he was risking everything for this girl who at the end broke his heart. The prosecution was trying to show that the disapproval from his parents and humiliation triggered his actions. He constantly lied to his parents about his social life because he did many things that went against his religion. Honestly, who hasn’t lied to their parents because they were doing disapproving things? Adnan was just a typical teenager with strict immigrant parents. His relationship with Hae was an “on again off again” relationship means he would have cared about the break up at first, but later moved on. Adnan said he loved her enough for a high school love, but wasn’t obsessed after the break up. His friends said that his response to …show more content…
Our memory tends to change effortlessly because it receives information frequently. Accordingly, Jay’s memory of the events alters in a normal manner, but Adnan is constant throughout all of his interviews. There’s no way that someone can remember something without even a small change. He’s thought to have planned the murder, so he must’ve also planned a story to tell the police if he was caught. Jay had criminal history which could’ve made him the perfect scapegoat. Adnan made Jay an associate to murder for the purpose to draw all the attention onto him. Furthermore, if he wasn’t guilty why didn’t anyone testify in his favor? In episode 1, Asia reported that she and two friends were at the library the moment Adnan was there. He must’ve given these students a reason to not confess the truth. It was extremely strange that an anonymous caller told the police to question the ex-boyfriend and he’s been with Hae at Leakin’ Park before. Adnan told the police he wouldn’t have a reason to ever go to Leakin’ Park because of the
One reason why there is not enough significant evidence to convict Adnan is that fact that Jay’s testimony was very inaccurate. For one thing, each time Jay testifies he lies, and the cops know it. When he was asked by the detective why he lied about where Hae was killed,
Firstly, the Nisha call placed Adnan with Jay after the murder. This call could have been a butt-dial that rang for 2 minutes. The call could have been from Adnan, who wanted to make Jay talk with Nisha. The Nisha call does not prove Adnan killed Hae, as it simply just puts him with Jay at the time. Also, the prosecution stated that Adnan was constantly doing bad things. Everyone does bad things, but it does not make them murderers. Finally, Jay knew the location of Hae’s car. The fact that Jay knew the location of Hae’s car should arouse suspicion on him. The evidence utilized by the prosecution is circumstantial and can be disproved, and the lack of strong evidence proves Adnan’s
Adnan Syed is innocent. I believe this because one, everyone says things that don’t make sense or don’t add up. Two, how could Adnan do this if he cared for Hae as much as he says he does? Three, every time it seems like the blame should fall on Adnan, people doubt that he’s not the one to blame. First, Adnan Syed is innocent in my eyes because all of his witnesses say different things and things that don’t add up. For example, almost all of the witnesses said a lot of “he was probably there”, and “from what I can recall”. Next, Adnan cares and wants the best for Hae, so why would he kill her? Adnan stated that he just wanted her to be happy that’s all he cared about, does that sound like a murder to you? Lastly, there’s too much doubt on
Another thing that puzzled me in this case was why Adnan would ask Jay to help him hide Hae’s body if they weren’t close friends. Why would Adnan trust Jay with something this serious? If Adnan thought out Hae’s murder as carefully as Jay says he did, why would he be careless with who he told? Jay seems to think that he and Adnan were best buddies, but Adnan and other people who knew them say
On January 13, 1999 a girl named Hae Min Lee disappeared, she was supposed to pick up her cousin after school, but never showed. After almost a month on February 9th, Lee’s body was found in Leakin park. Her ex-boyfriend Adnan was arrested for her murder only a few weeks later and has been in prison ever since. Adnan was portrayed as a great and kind young man that had no reason to kill Hae Min Lee. Through the case many were taken in and questioned, one in particular was jay, a mutual friend of Adnan’s. People have gone back and forth on whether it was Adnan or jay who murdered Lee because their stories don’t align at all. Jay doesn’t serve any time in prison like Adnan is even though there is no concrete evidence that ties Adnan to the murder
Jay had admitted to the crime they did and to be accessory of murder and an accomplice. Why would Jay openly admit to something that could end him up in jail, of course the jury and police would believe jay but there was some lies or mix ups in jays allegations more than once. Jay had claimed that Adnan and him had a buried the body around 7 then later he says they did it around midnight. And where he had seen the body. In the podcast, serial, there was close to 300 references to Adnan’s ethnicity were made
Some people believed that it really was Adnan that committed the murder of Hae, but some of the information that is used against adnan just doesn't match up, but not many things that came from Jay seemed to be very true. Jay jay committed the murder of Hae Min Lee because he changed his story the second time he got interviewed, he told false information about his timing, and he lied about knowing where Hae's car was after the murder was committed.
Aisha testified at trial that the note had been written sometime in early November of 1998, and that the phrase “I’m going to kill” was written in Adnan’s handwriting
Wilds, a former friend of Adnan Syed, claims that Adnan had killed Hae. Wild’s story goes as follows: On the day of Hae’s disappearance, Adnan gives Jay his phone and his car so Jay could pick him up after he had done the “deed”. Adnan was to ask Hae if he could have a ride home, since his car was broken down. Adnan calls after the murder has been committed for Jay to come pick him up at Best Buy, which Jay does. Jay and Adnan then proceed to drive around for a while before Jay returns Adnan back to track practice. After track practice, both people bury Hae in Leakin Park. There are many holes within Jay’s story. In fact, his story changes at least 6 times. Detectives taped two of Jay’s interviews out of four, stories told in these interviews do not match up. The most prominent lie Jay has told in his interviews is where Adnan had first revealed Hae’s body in the trunk of her car. The first time he says that this happened on Edmonson Avenue and the next time he says that it was at Best Buy. One interview Jay states that Westview mall was where him and Adnan went on January, 13; the next interview Jay claims they went to Security Square Mall. Wilds has also lied about his participation in Hae’s murder, at first he says he didn’t help Adnan bury Hae and he just dropped him off somewhere, but then he says he did help him with Hae’s
There are many points to consider in creation of a good story that will capture and deliver the main idea to the audience. The most important of all those points is the setting - physical location and time in the story. For example, if the author writes a story about polar bears but set it in South America, the story would not go along with the plot, losing its ability to create a clear message for the audience; Or if the story doesn’t have setting, its characters are simply in a vacuum with no reason to act and develop the main idea. In the story, "The Lesson before dying" by Ernest J. Gaines, the setting creates the central idea because it sets the basis for the main theme, the characters who develop the idea and actions within their environment to reflect the issues of the story.
The case of Hae Min Lee was originally only prominent within Baltimore County of Maryland. It has the trappings of a typical high school murder; a teen is angry at their ex-boyfriend/girlfriend for breaking up with them and as a result, would murder them. However, the case has gained international attention largely due to the investigations from ‘Serial’, which revealed an abnormal number of inconsistencies within the case against Adnan Syed. Eventually, this attention culminated into the granting of a new trial for Adnan. Adnan is most likely guilty because of circumstantial evidence and testimony from other witnesses that demonstrate probable cause for Adnan to murder Hae. Circumstantial evidence is good enough to convict someone if it can
What would you do if your were in adnan syed position.the story of serial narrated by sarah koenig. is about a girl named hae min lee gone missing january 13 1999.The cause of death was strangulation.adnan syed is hae ex-boyfriend .he is a track star, honor roll student ,prince of prom, nice, caring, athlete.then there is friend jay wilds who says he witnissed everything people say he is a stoner, scary, mean tall, skinny, brown, tall.this story is interesting because we get to unravel if adnan really killed hae min lee. I believe that adnan syed is innocent of the muder of hae min lee because there was no phone at bestbuy and he had more girl so why would he kill over a breakup.
In recalling the details of the crime, the narrator provides no defense of his innocence—only his sanity. Presuming that his confession to the police and his revealing of the evidence was true, the character’s guilt at this point is indisputable, and he has only his own defense. He accounts the homicide in detail, describing how he expertly crafted and executed his plan, while constantly assuring that he is not mad. The assertion that he makes, however, is a method of reverse psychology. By insisting that he is not mad, he manages to thoroughly convince the judges and jury, and by extension the reader, of his
To sum up, marijuana impacts on the brain, and this means the memory of the person become distorted. This means that Jay might took the drugs which effects on his brain to tell the truth, or Jay might have hazy perception to create a story that did not happen. Therefore, the police cannot arrest Adnan by Jay’s testimony because of the lies that he did it. Also, in others case they should study the case in a perfect way by examining the evidence instead of the witness because could they do not remember what exactly
On the contrary to what the court believes Mr. Jay is the manipulative and deceiving person which debunks his reliability to the court. Additionally, the witness' story of what occurred on January 13th, 1999 is very inconsistent. The use of Adnan's cell phone log that have been used to corroborate Mr. Jay do not match up "from 12:07 until 6:07, that window of time is where Jay’s story doesn’t line up with the cell phone records. And the timeline he’s giving is not lining up with the times of the cell phone calls". Therefore the belief that the call at 2:36 is not in reality when Adnan called Jay to tell him to "come pick me up from Best Buy". In addition, a witness states that "It’s impossible. It’s impossible. I mean, like, I mean it’s just impossible. It’s not, there’s no way that she was at Best Buy at 2:36". Due to the fact that Hae Min"was with [the] [witness] during that time, or at the school during that time" as they had a wrestling match to attend to as they were both managers of the team. Furthermore, the only evidence that brings forth that Adnan and Jay were in the same car around the murder which additionally corroborates the witness is the Nisha call, the
