In the article, Malala the Powerful by Kristen Lewis, she described how Malala and other people ruled by the Taliban around 2007, had to follow many harsh rules ordered from the Taliban. Many people perished because of not following the religious rules. Malala stood up to the Taliban while they ruled. She did not listen to the Taliban when they said that school was banned. She courageously stood up to the Taliban but yet still got shot. She crazily survived the shooting and is still alive and going to college today. Though the Taliban created huge challenges for Malala, she survived because she stood up to the Taliban with her great courage, and is getting a better education today. The reason all of this happened is because the …show more content…
Why? Because she was not only a 15-year-old girl; she was also a crusader for girls’ right to go to school. This work had made her famous throughout Pakistan and around the world. It had also made her a target of the Taliban.” (6) This is also a challenge because Malala would be risking a lot of things by standing up to the Taliban and going to school. She would be risking the death or torture of herself and her family. The article stated, “The bullet severely damaged her hearing and fractured her skull, causing her brain to swell dangerously. Fortunately, the physicians in Birmingham were able to control the swelling. Over the past months, she has undergone several operations to repair her skull and improve her hearing.” (9) The last challenge is a big challenge for Malala because she will have to go through many surgeries to fix the damage from the bullet that the gunmen shot at her. Her brain and hearing might never get back to normal or how they were before the bullet hit her. Malala did not only have challenges to face, she had courage to overcome them. In the text it said, “Malala and her classmates stopped wearing their uniforms and began hiding their books under their clothing. Staying alive meant going to school had to be top secret.”(7) This is an example of courage because Malala and her classmates are risking their lives to go to school and get an education. “When asked on a Pakistan talk show about
When Malala began speaking she was only 11 and was only trying to speak her mind. The dangerous terrorist group has invaded her home city, and she had the courage to speak up against them expecting no fame. The Taliban enforce strict Islamic law and destroyed or shut down girls' schools preventing women from getting and education. The people living here lived in constant fear but Malala was one of the few brave enough to fight it. Malala chose to continue going to school and even helped lead a group of girls to furthur their education, which is very dangerous considering her circumstances. The radical group soon strikes back, attempting to assassinate a only 15 y/o activist. Malala survived a shot to the head, and dident let that stop her and dident let that stop her from advocating for womens education. She faced many tragities, making sacrafices and even putting her life on the line. Malala overcame many obsticals and those obsticals are one of the reasons she is so globally
The Taliban hovers around them everywhere, deciding what they say, wear, and where they go. Malala never wanted to live a life like this; she didn’t want to live a life without purpose. She had dreams and aspirations. She wasn’t alive just to breathe; she didn’t know it yet but she was destined to inspire countless girls. She teaches us that if we were given this life, we should make something out of it. Our actions should be in the betterment of a society. She didn’t take a bullet for just for herself. She took it on behalf of the countless girls in the world who want to study but can’t.
I believe she is too young to take on a big risk like this. Issues like this should be resolved by adults, not teenagers. Even though what she is doing is bringing awareness to the problem, I believe risking one of their owns life is not worth it. When it comes to reality schools need a lot of money in order to run successfully, where would all that money come from? The government and the cycle would go back to square one. Her mission is important, but people have different perspectives of the situation and how to solve it. The article quoted, “The Taliban soon took credit for the assassination attempt, saying it was a warning to other girls not to follow Malala’s example.”(Lewis #8) This is important because it shows that even though Malala is trying to help the girls now the Taliban are keeping look out for those who defy them as well. The Taliban will not play around with her or her mission, they are determined to kill her...she’s only 15! Is she causing more harm than good? The conclusion did not provide the solution for this social issue, it made awareness for it which is the start. Malala’s story shows the world how brutal women’s lives are in Pakistan and how it must be stopped. Readers should spread the word about how this issue needs to be solved in order for it to be diminished permanently. Spreading it over social media, could make awareness even bigger. The conclusion did give
The Taliban issued death threats against her because she was fighting for girls rights to an education. On October 9, 2012 a gunman shot her in the head on her way home from school. After she survived, she gave speeches and still remained to fight for girls education rights. The Taliban kept giving her warnings but she still fought for what she believed in. Malala’s speeches and her never giving up helped her be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2013. She didn’t win but in 2014 she was nominated again and won. Malala still lives and succeeded in getting girls rights to an
Malala “fights” for school. According to the Jon Stewart video “Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head even then she still fought for school that proves she is brave”. She was afraid of losing school because learning is important so she stood up for it. She fought against the terrorist. And she was the only one to volunteer to write papers and books about the terrorists
Women that defend their rights face enormous risks every day and Malala is a perfect example of this. She is a perfect example of this because she was affected by this problem. An example of this is “In October 2012, on her bus-ride home from school, she was shot in the head by the Taliban for promoting girls’ right to education.” When the bullet hit her skin, the bone richoted it away and the bullet hit her eardrum instead. Once she fully recovered from the bullet to her head she began to fight for girls rights once again. To this day many girls and women still fight daily for the right to learn.
The article,”Malala the Powerful”, by Kristan Lewis, describes Malala a 15 year old girl who stood up to a terrorist group when she was threatened to death. Malala lived through one of the most tragic events of her life, getting shot by the Taliban. For many years the Taliban wanted to kill Malala. The Taliban ordered schools to close, girls not being able to sing or do any kind of music. In May of 2009, Malala, was identified and was put on the New York's Times documentary. She gave speeches and was on television. Though Malala lived through these challenges, she showed a lot of courage, fighting against the Taliban and everyone’s education.
The bullet had traveled through her head, neck and left shoulder, but miraculously Malala had survived the attack. After the onslaught she was rushed to a hospital in Birmingham, England. Once awake, Malala didn’t feel any resentment towards the Taliban, but she felt disappointed at the fact she wasn’t able to speak to them before they had shot her. She wanted to tell them just how wrong they had been about girls being insignificant and not wanting the opportunity to have an education. Once the world had learned about her story she was given lots of support for what she was trying to accomplish.
First of all, Determination is necessary to overcome adversity because it shows that no one is ever going to back down from what they believe in. Malala didn’t give up and earned what was rightfully hers-the ability to have an education. The article, “Malala” states, “The Taliban's attempt to keep Malala from getting an education has now backfired. Not only is Malala alive and bravely continuing to campaign for her beliefs, but Nov. 10 was named Malala Day to urge people to support the almost 32 million girls worldwide who are denied schooling.” Malala showed her determination by getting back
the soldiers moving along in the battle and they won their battle by destroying a brigade, which was remembered as one of the worst defeats against the British army. Malala grew up with a firsthand view of education, living with her father who founded multiple schools in the Swat Valley. She was always interested in learning new things and strived to be at the top of her classes, but when the Taliban put restrictions on women 's rights, where they aren 't allowed to go to school, one girl spoke out. Malala gave many speeches, was featured on a television show, and even had her own blog all to get the message out why education is important, and why everyone, boy or girl, deserves one. When riding the bus home from school, it was stopped near a military checkpoint where the bus driver and children were asked a couple questions. Then suddenly a man, who looked liked a journalist, got on the bus and shot Malala in her left eye socket and two other girls. This tragic event changed Malala’s life forever and only kept her going stronger than ever, to speak out for women 's education rights in Pakistan. She had no fear, only courage and that 's what makes her a hero. She truly deserves to be known as, “The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and
Malala was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman on October 9, 2012, for attending school to get an education. She is known as an activist for women’s education and leads by example through attending school even after she was aware that she could be killed for attending school in her native country of Pakistan. This is that the local Taliban in her native Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had banned girls from attending school.
In the video, Malala Yousafzai Speaks Out, showed that Malala stood up for her rights. Education. Something that was taken away from her. The article Malala the Powerful by Christian Lewis states, Malala didn’t want these people called Taliban to take her rights for education away. So Malala spoke out against this, knowing that what they are doing was bad and was determined to get her rights back. This made Malala a threat. So Taliban targeted her and shot her in the head. In the video Malala Yousafzai Extended Interview, it said the bullet went through her head and through her cheek and then cut into her shoulder just missing her skull. She luckily survived, after numerous surgeries. Malala kept fighting for her rights. Again in the article Malala the Powerful, Malala states “Even if they come to kill me, I will tell them what they are trying to do is wrong that education is our basic right.” This showed Malala was nice and wasn’t going to hurt them she was just going to talk to them and use avoid violence. Malala was brave and spoke up for her rights. Now Malala has changed things by starting a Malala fund to build schools, and she has her own book, her own movie and people all around the world support her. All because Malala spoke out for what she believed
After Malala was shot on a bus while returning home from school, she was taken to a local hospital but her condition grew worse. She was then transported to England for better treatment for the gun-shot wound to her head. There she awoke after being in a coma for two weeks and didn’t know where she was. She was very nervous and scared and had no idea where her family was. Her family joined her in England and she also received support from people throughout the world. She spent many months recovering from her
Malala decided to stand up for what she believed was wrong, being oblivious to the potential dangers. All Malala strived for was to change the education in Pakistan, this quote exemplifies her persistence to stand up for what she believed in, “Some people only ask others to do something. I believe that, why should I wait for someone else? Why don’t I take a step and move forward (Yousafzai, 117).” Malala was inattentive and did not realize that what she was doing to stand up for what she believed in harmed her at the end.
Malala Yousafzai is well known for her acts towards Women’s Rights due to the factors caused by the Taliban people. Malala (Biographyonline, Malala) was a regular Pakistan school girl when the Taliban started enforcing rules and restrictions against women. Women were no longer allowed to listen to music, receive education, or go shopping. If they did, they’d be punished by the Taliban. Malala loved school and refused to cower in fear like the rest of her classmates and community. Malala formed a secret blog with BBC expressing her feelings about how unfair women were being treated. Malala was then targeted by the Taliban and shot in the head. Malala suffered a coma, but
