Having Big Mc and coke, Chinese children celebrate birthday party and enjoy their time outside their parent’s home. Who would have thought 15 years ago that it would happen in China?. What were that mysterious reasons that make cultures change?. Basically, Nations cultures have changed all over history and that was a major reason in their development. During the last decades, every culture has had dramatic changes at all levels such as food, clothes and even thoughts. All of those changes refer to globalization. However, with the passage of time, some cultures had more influent on others and it was obvious that some cultures began to impose themselves on others. One of those cultures is American culture and its impacts on other culture are …show more content…
According to Millett in his article “Americanization”, “American globalization not only wrongly stereotypes us, but also causes many nations to hate the "American Way." It may have even caused the terrorist attacks on September 11. Thomas Friedman, in an article published in 1998, warns that Americanization not only creates hatred for the United States, but also allows the people who foster this hatred to do something with it - through technology.”
In short, it is obvious that Globalization has turned to Americanization and it should not be continuing like that. In other words, Globalization has to return to its general meaning and takes off any dress may make it out of its contest. Thus, Globalization stays as an excellent sign for exchanging aspects of cultures without any influent from one on another.

Globalization has, for better or worse, altered the economic arena for every country in the world. For many less developed countries, globalization has leveled the playing field so that their economies can compete with the larger, more developed ones such as the United States and other large western economies. For instance, technical engineers in India and China are now just as qualified as engineers in America, but at half the cost. The once large and prosperous service sector in the United States as well as telemarketing services have largely been sourced to India as a large exodus of American multinational corporations find cheaper workers who deliver comparable quality. This then seems to be the essence of globalization - businesses
For over thousands of years, globalization has widely occurred worldwide. Infact, since it had such an impactful widespread among people and families, It stayed throughout its heritage and was passed on to today.
Since its inhabitance, competition and dominance has been a concept that remains prevalent throughout American life. Past ideologies such as Manifest Destiny, Cultural Imperialism, and Ethnocentrism are all practices and beliefs comprising what it means to be American for many citizens, while also continually shaping outside perception of Americans today. On one hand, many countries have and continue to fully embrace American culture, globalization, and the rise of capitalism. In contrast, many countries have and continue to reject America’s stride for world assimilation regarding their ideals and values.
Contemporary globalization is an exceptionally multifaceted phenomenon and can be defined as "an intensification of cross-national cultural, economic, political, social and technological interactions that lead to the establishment of transnational structures and the global integration of cultural, economic, environmental, political and social processes on global, supranational, national, regional and local levels" (Huynen, Martens & Hilderink, 2005). The very nature of the American society has experienced insightful and compound changes due to globalization that has brought with it both new opportunities and risks. Similarly, the impacts of globalization
There is immigration mostly found throughout the U.S. It consists of foreigners coming from out of countries without paperwork. In the article “The Americanization Ideal” by: Barbara Jordan. She explains how the congress is giving more hope to immigrants. Newspaper tell us more about what’s going on. This article also says how the “alien” can be good or bad. Either way he/she should be able to become an American, and deal with less racism. By doing this, we should show more American civic culture as it says by: teaching the language, history, and rules/regulations. Now naturalization is mostly needed for this goal to become a success and together we can become one
At this point of time, globalization has grown to be a phenomenon that is significantly important economically, politically, and culturally. The amalgamation and incorporation of the world economy around the globe has reshaped business. Not only this, it has created "new social classes, different jobs, unimaginable wealth, and, occasionally, wretched poverty" (Kiggundu 2002, p. 4) by restructuring the lives of the individuals. For some, globalization is associated to modernism and contemporary practices. Others understand it as American domination (particularly those living in Asia). On the other hand, some people believe it to be the emasculation of America (Kiggundu 2002, p. 4).
The issue of American culture and its globalization has raised a lot of controversy. “The era of globalization” is becoming the preferred term to describe the current times. The term Americanization has been around for years. It was first used when the United States was being heavily immigrated into. The new Americans began to enjoy the freedoms associate with our country and gradually began to act less like a foreigner and more like a real American.
The term globalization can be defined as a process by which societies, regional economies and cultures have been integrated via a global network of transportation, communication and trade. It has both positive and negative impacts in all the areas that it touches on be it economical, social, technology, cultural, political, environment, health or any other. Globalization started to have an impact on businesses world wide in the eighteenth century since that time marks the merging of modernity and globalization. However, in the modern sence, globalization kicked off after the end of Second World War since its during that time that leaders felt the urge to break down the borders
According to Information System Today, (2014); Globalization will fall under all the categories of technology that move around the world “the greater international movement of commodities”. Globalization has change all aspect on how we do things, from ecumenical changes, cultural changes to technological changes. We are able to manage various things around the world with the comfort of our home (Schneider & Valacich, 2014). A perfect example of globalization would be the following: Leaving in Texas but having your clients or major business deals in Puerto Rico and been able to do it all from her home in Texas without having to do much traveling or no traveling at all. Been able to have conferences and meeting with different people around the
In truth, its history dates back as far as the sixteenth century, following the first great expansion of European capitalism, which resulted in slave trade, colonialism and neo-colonialism (Ezema, 2009). Throughout history, world powers have continually sought to perpetuate their way of life: from the philosophy and mythology of the Greeks, the political ideologies and linguistics of the Romans, and the art and architecture of the Italian Renaissance (Daghrir, 2013). Thus, it comes as no surprise that the aftermath of the post-war era, which saw the collapse of Soviet communism and the emergence of the United States as the sole hegemon, saw the aggressive spread of American ideals, values, and beliefs. Indeed, just as American goods flooded world markets in the post-World War II era; American culture now penetrates every continent through the aggressive development of mass communications, trade expansion and information technology.
Globalization is the process through which the world is slowly but surely getting interconnected. The relation is as a result of the exchange of cultural
During the early 1900’s, The United States government was ruled by white men that have captivated the American patriotism. The patriotism of the American society was greatly enchanted by the white superiors wanting to establish a strong American values and culture. The era of the time gave little hopes and dreams of living in a land that its purpose was to give the opportunities to all newcomers. However it was a different scenario among the Mexican American community. The Mexican communities within the United States are force to adapt to a new tradition due to the defeat of Mexican-American War. The Mexican government efforts to persuade its people to leave the United States were no effect because of their disloyalties to its government. From here on the Mexican-American community in the United States will decide its own self recognition of identity.
Globalization is an undeniable phenomenon of our modern societies. Global patterns keep spreading in many fields of our everyday life: food, economy, marketing, and last but not least, culture. Cultural products are indeed very often produced following the American pattern and exported to various places around the world. Hollywood blockbusters are huge hits in many different countries, our radios broadcast more and more American songs and even our national singers choose to sing in English rather than in their native language. Globalization is caused by many different factors. Cross-border processes such as interregional trade, employment, population migration and military conquest or colonization probably constitute the main factors (Holton, 2000, 141, 149).
Secondly, globalization is responsible for the extinction of some cultural elements. Firstly, same languages are dying out becuse of the subordination of the superiour ones. As Gannon(2008) stated: ‘While languages are dying, the major languages groups –English, Chinese, Spanish and so on- are strengthening, partly because of the growth of the global population.’ The lingua-franca is English in our globe. With it’s entegration on the other languages, others started to change rapidly and wil disappear in the end. Furthermore, thanks to commication technologies, the street languages are scattering. What we observe in our daily lives from streets are only the reflections of Western and American cultures. Secondly, within the new fashions in eating culture, people started to eat same products. The opening of global restaurants have cused the high demand of same things. As Turner claimed: ‘Most generally, globalization is an important corrective to more general linear models of modernity. As a result, it may well be the ease that Mcdonaldization ahs reached its economic and cultural limits (2003, p.137)’. Lastly, demanding the global culture makes the other cultures out of picture. Especially Eastern values
Globalization is a major issue in our world today. But it can be seen through many different perspectives, some see it as a negative thing, but some people also see the positives within it and some people have mixed views. Globalization is the spreading of different views, this can political views, social views, and economic views being spread throughout the world where it once wasn’t present. Globalization shapes the way people live and what they do on a day to day basis, or what’s going on around them like technological advancement. Globalization affects everyone, what we do, what we eat all shapes our individual and collective identities.
