I am bringing the following complaint against Diane Roznowski because of her violation of our chapter’s Phi Alpha Delta bylaws in chapter II, section I and chapter I, section v (specifically regarding American University Social Media Policy Guidelines Article II, Section II). Today after chapter, I asked the graduating seniors in the room we were holding chapter to leave the room so I could discuss senior send-off. I made an announcement stating that I would be in charge of organizing the senior send-off for this semester. As a result, I opened up the floor to questions and suggestions. Melina Hernandez suggested making personal baskets or gifts for seniors in their specific families within the chapter so that there would be a larger sense of families within our chapter. Melina also expressed that she was more than willing to collaborate with me in that aspect of senior send-off, which I happily agreed to. Later on that evening, Diane added me to a group chat on Facebook and suggested we get something for Kate, who is a graduating member of our chapter within the Warren family. She also added Jackie Pelella to the chat, who is no longer a part of the Warren family since she was the Associate of a Partner (Denise Andrade) who disaffiliated from Phi Alpha Delta and American University for personal reasons. As a result, Jackie was officially adopted into the Kennedy family. When she made this clear in the group chat, she also mentioned that she would be contributing to the
Trolling is the new title that has been given to harassment that takes place on the Internet. A common example of trolling would be sending provocative messages via a communications platform for the pure entertainment of the sender, which then has a harmful effect on the recipient. There are different types of trolling; messages sent to harm others for the sender’s gratification are called ‘flame trolls’, and those to entertain others for their gratification have been given the title ‘kudos trolls’ (Bishop 2012a, 2012b). Where these actions have the resource to legal remedies they are called ‘electronic message faults’ and where the message fails to constitute an offence ‘electronic message freedoms’, and there is quite rightly nothing to
Appears that anywhere you look today you will find someone using social media. With advertisements and commercials even billboards Social Media appears to be anywhere you look. Social Media is such a big thing today, according to study provided by the website Socialnomics, individuals devote 700 billion minutes every month on Facebook (statisticbrain.com). Social Media has now become so much better for advertising that it is changing how business is done.
Comments: From day one of my employment in Child Support I have made an effort to go above and beyond in my job duties and responsibilities. During my free time while in training, I assisted my supervisor in putting together baskets that were to be taken to the Child Support Conference from Forsyth County. At one point in training, court orders had been distributed to various trainees that were needed by the establishment team. Being the only trainee that was also a member of establishment, I went to each trainee, gathered the establishment orders and distributed them to the appropriate worker so that the Agents were able to move the cases accordingly. At my supervisor 's request, I redesigned the front of the “Stop Sign” packets used for group interviews. I made the suggestion that the cover sheet that listed the documents that are placed in the folder for group be laminated so that customers would be less likely to write on them, which was implemented by the program manager. When these laminated lists came back, I stapled them to each folder, in Spanish and English. The Program also prepared fact booklets about the Child Support program but failed to have them printed in English. I pointed this out to the Program Manager and the
Depending on employer’s preferences, massaging, media sites and texting may not be allowed. If an individual is working as a cashier or bagger, customer service should be their main focus. Any job that requires high customer attention such as grocery stores or more professional offices should require employees to avoid using media sites and texting. If an employee is more concerned about anything other than their current job or task, it becomes a problem. This is only with customer service at the highest level, in some places, there is little customer service needed. Where I currently work, I have the approval to watch YouTube, listen to Pandora, and message anyone as long as I scan documents and it is not busy. It passes the time when
Over the past few months, but especially in recent days with the inauguration of president elect Donald J. Trump rapidly approaching, many of us students have begun to question our safety and our leadership’s concern for our safety on this campus, as have our families back home. When individuals no longer feel a sense of personal safety, academics and academic performance can no longer be a priority. Discrimination based on bias can escalate beyond rhetoric and into acts of violence. History has proven to be a solid reference.
Specific - Devise a social media policy which clearly sets out what E.ON deems to acceptable and unacceptable conduct of using social media and the consequences of non-adherence. Ensure Trade Union’s are engaged and their views/feedback are taken on board
As social media becomes a heavy influence in our online presence, certain elements need to be policed, as laws can still be broken. This is an insight into if social media, more specifically social networking sites, can be regulated to avoid recent spates of ‘trolling’ or whether it only serves to strip people of freedom to speech.
The most recent definition of public relations, according to the Public Relations Society of America (2012), states that “Public Relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.” Through the rapid advancement of modern media and technology, there have never been more outlets and opportunities available for accomplishing the goals of public relations. Believing the development of social media has not created serious changes in the way public relations practitioners go about their duties would be foolish and a fast track to falling behind in this rapid world of communication. The main goals of public relations are “to
As social media becomes an essential way to communicate, nurse must be aware of what are appropriate and illegitimate uses of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Nurses must use their best judgment in what they post, because they are responsible for protecting the public view of nurses, and most importantly, former and present patient confidentiality. Social media education should not start when a nurse starts their career, but while they are still in school. Richard G. Booth of Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Western University, London, Canada, studied the use of Twitter by nursing students. In 2011, Booth collected 498 tweets over a six day
Despite the fact that we’re already in the 21st century, society continues to show signs of progress and development strongly leaning towards the direction of advancement, constantly evolving. This pattern is no different from the world of advertising, as it has also evolved through the years and quite recently an unexpected technological innovation took the world by storm. It made such a tremendous impact that eventually led to the transformation of traditional marketing, and it’s no other than social media that we all learned to love.
“As the use of social media increases and becomes an integral part of nearly every student’s life, problems arise when student expression on these sites turns into threats against the school or other students, implicating both student safety and the speaker’s right to free speech” (Hughes 208). There’s no denying that social media has become a part of most people’s daily life. We have sites like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc. These websites, or apps, allow us to express ourselves in any way possible, whether it’s supporting families who lost a member in a mass shooting, trying to impeach the latest president, or donating to those who are victims of natural disasters. It’s not always that social
In an earlier blog, I briefly discussed with you the importance of selecting the right social media platform for your business goals. Getting started on the right foot with your social media marketing is essential to the growth and scalability of your business. Selecting the right social media platform is only the beginning of your social media strategy. The next step is to develop the right content to share. The goal of your social media content is to grow an audience of potential customers and give them a chance to engage with your business.
People are increasingly sharing their lives online through social networking sites with little concern for who may be viewing their information. This has become an issue in current times and is up for debate based on the ethical issues associated with Social Media. People don’t realize joining a social network is like joining a community. As any community in real life, your business has a place in the community but should not invade one’s privacy. Social networking is one of the most popular methods apart from forum marketing that is available to Internet users today. Places like MySpace and Facebook among others have gone from just social interaction spaces to a part time marketing program as
“So it’s important to understand the role of the Facebook page. It is a vehicle to help increase traffic to something I own. My end goal it to increase website traffic and build my email list. Without that, I will forever be reliant on the fan base.”
More recently than in years past, digital technology and social media have grown to become a part of our everyday lives. The recent rise in those who own smartphones allows this everyday use of digital technology and social networking to be easier than ever before. At any time and any place, we have the ability to “socialize” with nearly anyone—even celebrities who have no idea most of us even exist. The continuous consumption of digital media has altered once personal face-to-face communication to just that, digital. More and more people seem to be living in what Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon call “The Cloud”. “The Cloud” is a seemingly alternate universe of which communication is altered from personal to digital. This universe has led to debates over whether or not these online communities are real or whether social media is actually social. Various digital media sources also encourage users to create individual identities, of which may or may not actually be real. It seems as though our reliance on digital technology and social media have allowed the determination of certain aspects of our lives. Although social media allows us to connect with nearly anyone at any time, Americans have taken advantage of its use, and their attention has been drawn away from real life interactions to digital ones. The ramifications of such influences reflect the hidden insecurities of Americans and, ironically, emphasize our inclination to boast about ourselves by allowing others to see the
