American soccer is the most popular sport in the world. There are only 35 countries in the world where soccer isn’t the first including the U.S. but that leaves 226 countries with soccer #1. In fact, the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world! Playing soccer may be difficult at first, but with a lot of practice you can be on top. The first step of soccer is choosing your level. There are about three different levels for soccer when you are under 18. The first and lowest level is rec. Rec soccer is for beginners or people who aren’t very serious about soccer. This level is not very aggressive and there are no tournaments. Anyone can join and you don’t have to try out. The next level is travel-rec. This is the level in between. This is a little more skilled and serious than rec, but it depends what team if you have to try out. The last level is travel. This is the most serious and skilled level at this age. You must try out and some teams can be very difficult to make. There is also far traveling involved. In travel the game can get very aggressive and violent. …show more content…
For different teams and levels there can be many different set-ups and positions. For beginner soccer there may only be offence and defence for younger and offence, defence, and goalie for older. The offence at this level with kindof stay up while the defence will most likely stay back. Another level might have midfield, offence, defence, and midfield. For a more complex level, like travel, there may be many more positions like striker, midfield, wing, goalie, defence, and sweeper. Stricker will be up the field and most likely scores the most goals. The midfield will be around most of the field, but won’t go as far up as striker and as far back as defence. In this level defence most likely won’t stay back when the ball isn’t
he Legacy I want to leave behind is in involved with soccer. I want to be remembered as a FIFA legend, and want to be better or as good as past legends like Pele, and Messi. Also, an accomplishment I would like to achieve is make into the soccer hall of fame. I want to be known as the very best. Finally, my legacy will inspire people to try harder and never give up.
Soccer is a popular sport that is played all around the world. People from South America and other parts of the globe call this sport football. This game requires sports equipment, rules that need to be acknowledged, and each player obtains an assigned position. I was a part of Maine East freshman soccer team for a year. Not only is the sport exciting to play, but it is also interesting to watch the World Cup.
The rest of the world lives and breathes soccer much like Americans live and breathe football. The world embraces soccer because soccer brings people and their countries together. Nations throughout the world come together for 90 minutes to see what nation will prevail so much so that soccer is said to be the unofficial universal language throughout the world. But many people in the U.S. have never watch a full soccer game in their lifetime. This is why U.S. will never embrace the sport of soccer because of national dominance, money, and location unlike the rest of the world.
Soccer in the United States has consistently taken a back seat to sports such as football, basketball, or baseball until today. Soccer was a sport that never gained traction in the United States until recently, and this is likely due to the American public who never appears to support a sport/club unless they show signs of success in competition. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of the American public only caring about the winners, is that even though soccer has existed in America for so long, they have not been popular due to the lack of success, which is tied directly to the inability to recruit talented athletes to play in MLS or the FIFA national team. However, while the popularity of soccer in the United States is still relatively low in comparison to certain sports, their popularity is on the rise. According to an article published by TheRichest.com in 2014, men’s soccer was then the seventh most popular sport in the United States behind ice hockey, men’s professional basketball, auto racing, college football, baseball, and football. Soccer never truly began to gain traction as a popular sport until recently, that is why individuals younger than the age of thirty typically will not watch a soccer match before they will the majority of sports. Soccer is international sport. Soccer is the best sport in many countries especially in America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Soccer not only brings people together from the same country but it brings people together from different countries and family and friends too. Especially when it comes to the World Cup. The World
“I don’t want normal people to mock me”. These were the most offensive words I have ever heard. They were pronounced by one of my teammates during the allied soccer championship. Due to his suspension from the team for his disrespectful manners and temper tantrums he had missed many practices and thought he wasn’t prepared enough to play.
was serious and the World Cups finally came to America in 1994, only four to five percent of the country heard about it that some went to the game and other outdoor leagues that struggled to “gain footing” (Eggers pg. 3). Soccer is mostly popular for the youths. The United States Soccer Federation, USSF, had registered about 1 million youngsters in 1983 and had estimated that eight million Americans play soccer at all levels. Soccer in America rapidly grows due to the youth and that soccer holds the effects of the characters, families, communities, and the country. “The YMCA reports soccer as its largest team sport with 400,000 boys and girls participating through 900 YMCAs. In the metropolitan Washington D.C., youngsters registered, Illinois reported 9,000 registered young players in 19777 and 46,000 in 1983, and the high schools like Centerville in Ohio regularly draw 4,000 fans to a game…By 1998, over 17 million Americans played soccer at all levels, with nearly 800 men’s and 800 women’s varsity college teams, over 8,000,000 youth participants” (Oliver
I started playing soccer when I was eight years old. I was first introduced to soccer at a YMCA day camp and fell in love with it instantly. This camp played soccer a bit differently they had all the same rules and regulations, but played it on black top. I immediately wanted to dive into the sport and learn everything I could about it. I was taught soccer by being shown how to do it at a league called NASA (National American Soccer Association). Here I was taught all the parts that make up soccer and how to use the right techniques to make mold me into how I play today.
Soccer in the United States has always been classified as a second sport, and even though recently there has been a lot of expansions in Major League Soccer teams and youth academies many people are still far behind in their soccer knowledge. Soccer, or Futbol as it’s supposed to be said, is truly a beautiful sport that anyone can play, from the starving masses to the rich beverly hills children. My passion for soccer began to grow when I was six years old and hasn't stopped since, after 11 years of early morning and late night drives back to town I have met many people and learned many lessons brought to me by the beautiful sport I respect. Soccer is a team sport and very physical, tactical, and mental which makes it very complex. Regarding
Physical Ability- Soccer requires a lot of physical ability. In soccer, you have to constantly be moving. Especially if you play the midfield position. I have played the midfield position all my life and it involves so much running because you have to help the forwards and defense. It also requires strength. For the defense and mid-field positions require a hard, big kick. You must also be able to dribble the ball while running. Soccer is a very physical sport.
You have to try your best and never give up. You need to play to the whistle. Your coaches are going to be hard on you and you’ve got to work with it. During games you will face challenges and the only way to defeat that challenge is to be tough and never give up. You are going to be pushed and you're going to want to stop, but you can’t stop just because something little gets in your way.
Soccer is the most popular sport in Mexico, Europe, and America. The Fifa world cup only happens every 4 years, for Womens and Mens Soccer. For soccer you have to have the right shoes which are cleats. It has to be a certain type of cleats because you have to be able to run on the field and hit the soccer ball.

My favorite sport is association football, best known as soccer, is the most popular sport in the world that requires few elements to be played and is highly acclaimed. It is played around the world in a lot of countries and has big amounts of fans. It consists of eleven players on each side of the field, trying to get the ball to the opposing goal by crossing through the counter team by maneuvering the ball or performing a series of passes to get to the goal and score. Famous teams and players are widely recognized all over the world and most of them face in tournaments, which the best are the FIFA world cup for national teams and the UEFA champions league for club leagues. Soccer in United States is not very popular, and recently was
The settings for our subject youth soccer team may vary from week to week. However, it is always on a grass field. Sometimes the condition of the field and condition of the weather may affect players psychologically, physically, and socially. The coaches must teach the players to adapt to those conditions, while adapting their approaches to players as well.
