Chris Kyle was said to be the best American sniper of all time. He has the record to prove it too, with over 160 confirmed kills. Chris served four tours in the Iraq War. He created and an autobiography about his tours, and his experiences while overseas. His book, and his story, were later turned into American Sniper. The movie was a box office hit, and was grossing almost five and a half million dollars. The movie is based off of the book, which is based off of Chris’ life. Christopher Scott “Chris” Kyle was born in Odessa Texas in April of 1974. Chris was the oldest of two sons, and their parents were Deby Lynn and Wayne Kyle. The Kyle family was big into hunting pheasant, quail, and deer. As Chris grew up, he learned that family is the most important thing. He was taught that protecting your family is the top priority from his father. Once he had graduated, Chris became a professional bull rider. He suffered from a serious arm injury, ending his career. September 1st, 2001, Chris witnessed a plane crash into the twin towers live on his television. He felt a need to protect his country, his family. …show more content…
Upon graduating basic training, he was assigned to SEAL team 3. Kyle was a sniper in platoon “Charlie”, which was later named “Cadillac”. Chris served for a total of four tours, and fought in many major battles in the Iraq War. His first long distance kill was a woman carrying a bomb towards a group Marines. “The woman was already dead. I was just making sure she didn’t take any of the Marines with her.” Chris commented when asked about the kill. Upon having 160 confirmed kills, a bounty of $80,000 was set for Chris Kyle’s death. Chris’ longest confirmed kill was from 2,100 yards(1,920 m), and was considered a “luck shot” by Kyle himself. Those in Kyle’s unit and the Marines under his sniper protection gave Chris the nickname
While on active duty, Chris served as a Navy Seal, in a special forces unit primarily as a Scout Sniper. Chris was a highly decorated special forces operator with top secret clearance, who served 4 combat deployment to Iraq and is credited as the deadliest sniper in American history, with 160 confirmed kills. His exposure to combat has come from fighting in some of the major battles of the war in Iraq, in where he experienced the loss of fellow service members
“It was my duty to shoot the enemy and I don’t regret it. My regrets are for the people I couldn’t save: Marines, soldiers, buddies. I’m not naïve, I don’t romanticize war. The Worst moments of my life have come as a SEAL. But I can stand before God with a clear conscience about doing my job” (“Chris Kyle Quotes”). The first reason for why Chris Kyle should be inducted in the U.S. Military Hall of Fame is for his undying desire to protect not only his country, but his fellow countrymen as well. Kyle served over four tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan during the war on terror (“Chris Kyle Navy Seal”). Kyle also continued to protect people indirectly after he retired from the armed services. According to a Chris Kyle information website, “…he (Kyle) became chief instructor for training Naval Special Warfare Sniper and counter sniper teams and he authored the Naval Special Warfare Sniper Doctrine, the first Navy SEAL sniper manual” (“Chris Kyle Navy Seal”). Kyle also started a company in the U.S. with the idea of
The story of Chris McCandless is a fascinating story. The things that Chris McCandless has made him a whacko in my personal view. Chris McCandless did not think his adventure out thoroughly so it led to his death.
Chris McCandless, otherwise known as Alexander Supertramp, was said to be a nutcase, and a sociopath, but was he really those things? Who was Chris McCandless? I believe Chris was an adventurous, troubled, outcast, who was trying to find himself through nature.
A trait that is very admirable in Chris is his courageous spirit. In order to truly appreciate Chris McCandless and his courageous personality, it is important to note that he was brave even in his youth. Chris's father, Walt, took him on a backpacking trip every year. One year Walt took Chris to climb Longs Peak in Colorado. When they reached an elevation of 13,000 feet, Walt felt that it was time to go back, but "Chris wanted to keep going… (108)" Walt recalled, "He was only twelve then…If he'd been fourteen or fifteen, he would have simply gone on
Kyle led a very interesting life, and had a successful military career. He used to train in rodeos and became quite good at it, but in 1992, he was injured and it cost him a chance at a career in doing so. Kyle served deployments, but on
He started off by burning his money that he could've given away or gave to charity. Chris’s journal states "Chris piled together his paper arranging the money accordingly, from ones to fives to twenties and then put a match to it. One hundred and thirteen dollars was turned into ash and smoke." (Krakauer 29) As a human when I see or think of someone burning money it makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that he could've given his money to someone or gave it to charity makes me feel like he doesn’t care about anyone else but himself. Walt also claims that "Chris was very cocky and stubborn about certain things."(Krakauer 120) When a person or a human says things that are cocky and stubborn it makes them sound very narcissistic. Chris’s journal also claims "In the spring of 1989 Chris took his Datsun on other prolonged, extemporaneous road trip. When he abandoned his family and set off to certain death." (Krakauer 124) The fact that Chris left his life and his family to go on a journey that would just get him killed, shows me that he is a very narcissistic human

While he is in Iraq, he goes through several very stressful things, as he is in constant fear for his life from
Chris Kyle had a fairly good early life. The son of a church deacon, Chris Kyle grew up on a ranch and experienced a childhood that was shaped by outdoor pursuits. Another hero, Kyle Carpenter was only 21 when he threw himself onto a grenade in hopes to save his fellow Marine from the blast. Lance Corporal Carpenter’s body absorbed a majority of the resulting explosion, but he was severely wounded. According to mca-marines.org, “He received a depressed skull fracture requiring brain surgery, multiple facial fractures, a third of his lower jaw missing, a collapsed right lung, and multiple fragment injuries to both of his upper and lower extremities.” Kyle Carpenter said, "I wouldn't change anything. We're both alive and we're here and I'm fully appreciating my second chance.”
After graduation, she wanted to get away from the drab winters of Wisconsin, so she moved to California. This move would take her to where she would eventually meet Chris Kyle. The two dated briefly before marrying. She has two children Bubba and Angel. In 2013, Chris was shot and killed by a veteran he was counseling. In her healing process, she began to write American Wife and to start the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. The aim of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation is to provide meaningful, interactive experiences to service members, first responders and their families, aimed at enriching their family

Chris Kyle is likely the most publicly recognized sniper in history; he became an iconic US hero after the movie based on his life and his book broke box office records and dominated the
On February 2, 2013, three years after retiring from the Navy, Chris and his good friend Chad Littlefield were taking a former Marine who was diagnosed with PTSD, Eddie Ray Routh, to a gun range for a little R&R, upon request of Routh’s mother. While at the gun range, something set off Routh, and he drew a gun and started firing at Chris and Chad, killing them both. It is still not certain what caused Routh to take the actions he did that day, but it is a tragic and awful ending to the life of a true American hero. Chris Kyle was not only a hero for what he did as a member of the United States military, but also just as a man. How anyone could look at the life of Chris Kyle and not consider him a hero is completely baffling.
