I learned so much about the things I was capable and not capable to do and about the foundation of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. The lovely ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. always made me feel very comfortable to the point that I was able to be myself around them. However, when I tried that with the other sorority members it did not felt the same way. The other sorority made me feel left out and uncomfortable when being around them and that’s something that Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. did not. Being able to talk one on one, ask for help and talk to the ladies like a regular friend was one of the reason why I chose Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority

As a young woman who strives to make a difference both locally and globally, I know that membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will aid in accomplishing my life long goals. The emphasis this organization places on assisting and supporting others through the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, is truly a reflection of the public service initiatives that I make an effort to take part in. The opportunity to form a lifelong bond with other college educated women, who share some of the same morals and beliefs as I do, is phenomenal. Alpha Kappa Alphas represent service and culture more than anything. Ever since AKA was founded in 1908, their motto has been “By Culture and By Merit”, and the mission of the sorority goes along with their motto. According to the mission tab of the official AKA website, service to all mankind, to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, and to alleviate problems concerning girls and women to maintain a progressive ingress in college life are the five components of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission to stand by their motto (Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc., Par. 1).

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the Nu Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. My desire to have the opportunity to become a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated is grounded on encounters, characteristics and the prestige purpose and history of the fraternity.

I’m currently seeking membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, for brotherhood and a friendship, with successful leaders who strive to compel an impact in their communities. Through all my interactions and meeting with members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the features that stood out to me the most that made me personally want to become a member were the friendship they held with each other, and those of similar characteristics. The fact that they were willing to help other men continue to grow and better themselves in any way they could. The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity provided a voice and a dream for African Americans around the world. For people who were colored at the time this fraternity was created, had to struggle in their everyday life because racism was such a huge focus. Alpha Phi Alpha was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven outstanding African American men who attended college there. They created a strong bond and brotherhood in the organization and were an inspiration to colored people all over the nation. The seven founders were known as “Jewels” at the fraternity. These seven men were Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy. They were all very intelligent and brave men, a lot of people looked up to them. The fraternity was created and based on colored people who were racially prejudiced socially and educationally. My passion for my sorority grew exponentially during the fall of my sophomore year. Recruitment season had started and I was meeting loads of sweet, freshman girls. I loved getting to know the new faces, showing them the ropes and making them feel at home. In high school, I had never been close friends with underclassmen, so the experience of being an older “guide” was new for me. I loved it and I loved my freshmen friends.

When becoming an Alum of the best university, Oklahoma State University, I want to continue to support the university that helped to further my future. I am interested in the Delta Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. at Cheyney University. Being a lifetime member of the first sorority for African-American women has sparked my interest since childhood. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority means to me services provided by now all ethnicities for women to impact the community in a positive manner. The services since the beginning in 1908 have been immaculate. Many AKA’s were helping during the Great Depression, Civil Rights Movement, and today are helping with Black Lives Matter. Being a potential member of this prestigious organization for a lifetime I believe will be able to make a difference on Cheyney University campus and surrounding areas.
