This topic has been filled by among other factors social and economic factors. Abortion is the termination of pregnancy. It is the removal of the fetus before it is viable. It is usually done before the fetus gets to 25 weeks old. It is either spontaneous or induced abortion. Abortion refers to the induced type (Malcolm 1977 page 12). Abortions are one of the many things that everyone has an opinion about. Unfortunately methods were very crude and must have caused intense pain for the mother. It was also very dangerous, because the clinical procedures were not advanced, and if some of the fetus was left in the womb then the woman would suffer from extreme poisoning which could be fatal. This law stood unchanged but in 1938 a gynecologist was acquitted of an illegal abortion he had performed on a girl who had been raped. The court accepted that a woman's mental and physical state should be considered when deciding to abort. This set a precedent and was accepted as a amendment to the previous law. The situation was clarified under the Abortion Act of 1967 that was recently further clarified in the Human Fertilization and Embryology Act of 1990. I believe that abortion, in certain circumstances, is all right. It all depends on the person and the reason why she may want to have an abortion. I think a woman should be able to have an abortion if she were raped and became pregnant. It would be understandable if she didn't want to have the baby. It may or may not have been her fault for getting pregnant but abortion would give her a chance to start over. I was watching a television show where kids from 12 to 14 years old were having sex with multiple people. How can you have a baby at 12 years old? Having an abortion would give her a chance to correct her mistake and live her life the way a Twelve-year-old should. Today, abortion is legal but the states have put restrictions on abortions such as: mandatory waiting periods. Requirements, parental consent regulations, and weakening the standard which further constraints will be judged. These restrictions hit the low-income women hardest which is a high population of African American. Along with any women who depend on the state for their health care ("Abortion." Current Issues page 83). From the information I have gathered in the research based on abortion I can say that in certain circumstances it’s allowable but on others it’s not so much. To be informed on where it started and first began and how it was done. Whether the fetus can live outside of its mother or not, it is still a human being; taking its life is no different than taking an adults life.
