The Rosslyn community consists of members from different cultures, backgrounds, ages, jobs and regions, all of whom take part in the same rituals, from summer festivals to evening strolls. Rosslyn has developed several programs to improve the wellbeing of its members. For example, the recently introduced Local Exchange Trading System (Siri, 2014) has encouraged the community’s economic growth and enhanced a sense of belonging among the community members. Asset based community development approaches are always given priority in Rosslyn. Various community development programs in collaboration of community members, third sectors and other stakeholders has been taking place in my community. There are various factors that determine the members’ degree of cohesiveness and participation in the community. Some of them include intent, resources, belief, needs and preferences. Membership to the Rosslyn community is optional. However, I would encourage membership to the community by children below ten years is always encouraged. This is because at this age, children easily develop skills and knowledge and learn their roles.
Every person deserves the right to experience a sense of community amongst people who share a common characteristic. A sense of fellowship amongst similar people allows a person to become more comfortable with who they are through interactions with others who are going through—or have gone through—the same triumphs or hardships. Without this feeling of belonging, one could be driven into insanity. Anxiety due to isolation and desolation could run rampant through a person’s mind because of the loneliness that comes with a lack of community—making it an essential part of a humanhood. By definition however, community invites inimitability. Community can be defined as a group of unique individuals with shared characteristics. From that a

A community can be defined in many different ways based on every individual’s experience with it. Developing a strong community takes time. A community is a place where people around supposed to be able to live and thrive together. When one thinks of a community, the image that most likely is visualized is one of a place where each person lives harmoniously with all the other members of that community. While this may be the typical image of a community, it is not the realistic view. In reality communities can share both good and bad aspects. In Place Matters: Metropolitics for the Twenty-First Century Peter Dreier, John Mollenkopf, and Todd Swanstrom make the argument that the place a person lives ultimately matters over all else; the place which a person lives effects the choices that that he/she makes and determines his/her ability to obtain a

Community is the difference between being and belonging. It is just too easy to just be a part of a group, but to feel like you belong to the group is far more meaningful. You can go to the meetings and know everyone’s names but none of that means anything if you don’t feel that you are a significant component in a group. To be a part of a community means that you are a part of group where inclusion, support and friendship are highly-regarded. The beauty about community is that everyone has their own gifts, talents, opinions and experiences to offer to it, therefore making each member valuable. As a Resident Assistant, I intend to create an inclusive community in which each person is accepted and encouraged regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual-orientation or ability. Community is family. To me community has never been about the proximity of one person to another, but of the connection that those two people share. What makes community special is the idea that a collective group of diverse people that all share different attitudes, interests, and goals can come together and unite to bring something into existence. Members of a community are expected to look out for one another and work in solidarity with one another for the community. As a human being, it is imperative to be a member of some sort of community because, in a similar way of being part of a family, the experiences and ideals shared within the community give people a sense of purpose and place within society.

A community is a group of people that share a common or similar characteristic with each other. Some communities can also consist of people living together or practice worship. My essay will include the communities that I am part of which are my dance, school and church communities.
A community is established when more than two people share the same values and through time this personal connection evolves into a fellowship governed by rituals, traditions, and a particular form of communication that when taken together makes a group of individuals whether living in a specific geographical area or connected by ideals so distinct that their distinguishing marks allow them to stand out from among the crowd. They do not just believe in something like an organization but they need each other to survive and thrive. A good example is the Old Order Amish Mennonite community wherein the community serves as source of identity, strength and provides the reason why they should sustain the community’s way of life.
