9/11: A Real Hero

If there is one day I dread most upon its arrival, it would be 9/11. Sure there was an immense amount of strength as a nation represented, following the terrorists attacks, but it also brought a great amount of grief and sorrow. I remember watching videos of innocent people jumping from windows in the twin towers hoping to escape the terror. These people believed there was no one to help and no one to help them. They lost hope. September 11, 2001 was a very tragic day but at the same time a very heart shaping experience. The men and women who ran into burning building trying to help the helpless had great courage and personal honor. Every person that had been hurt or killed during this horrific ordeal were rescued and treated as needed. The fallen rescuers did not even think of their own lives, just the people who needed the help. The personal honor that drives a man to search for up to 18 hours straight, looking for any sign of life, honors those lost, and honors his country.

It was nearly 10 years ago that a bright September day was darkened by the worst attack on the American people in our history. The images of 9/11 are seared into our national memory -- hijacked planes cutting through a cloudless September sky; the Twin Towers collapsing to the ground; black smoke billowing up from the Pentagon; the wreckage of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the actions of heroic citizens saved even more heartbreak and destruction.

During the date September 11th, 2001 America suffered a tragedy that had not been seen in some time. Muslim extremists took ahold of 4 commercial planes and made them the weapons for their terrorism. They had 2 planes barricade into the World Trade Center buildings, one plane crash into the pentagon and the last plane was taken down and crashed into a crop field. This day brought out new heros and bravery but also brought an immense amount of death. Thousands of people were killed and their families paid the price, never seeing them again.

The many heroic feats we hear of from 9/11 were not only committed by the hands of emergency personnel, but also by untrained civilians. In the air, flight attendants on hijacked flights managed to retain their composure, hunt down crucial information,and make contact with airlines. Passengers fearfully rallied together and rebelled against the enemy, knowing very well that they may not even survive. The courageousness of civilian heroes on the hijacked planes may not have stopped the attacks from happening, but it did help expose the hijackers, and even saved thousands of lives on 9/11.

Most Americans remember the hardship from the events that took place on September 11, 2001. It was a very hard time for many families; loved ones were passing or saying their last words over the phone. It was hard on more than just those people though. Through it, all heroes stepped-up and terrorists were overcome. Damage was done, but memorials were built to remember the good, not the bad. September 11, 2001, is a day that terrorists tried to bring America to its knees; however, heroes arose to act as true patriots to save hundreds of lives including Flight 93 and the Pentagon.

Firemen and first responders who died trying to save other people's lives are the true heroes from September 11th. These people risked their lives to make sure others were out of the buildings and when they got those people out they went back into the buildings and tried to find more people to get to safety. September 11, 2001, was a very important day to some muslims, but a tragic day for the Yousafzai's. They believed that Osama bin Laden was a hero and celebrated him. While she talked about Osama Bin Laden Malala said “the Quran clearly states that it is wrong to kill” however, many people saw him as a hero because his interpretation of the Quran meant that everyone else was evil unless they were Islamic (55). However, Malala and many other muslims could not believe that a true follower of Islam would do something that horrible. They felt that God would not wish to see anyone get killed and didn’t understand how Osama bin Laden and his followers could interpret the meaning of the Quran and Islam religion so differently than they do. Flight 93 Introduction: To be a citizen who lived and actually survived the attack of 9/11 will always remember it. The sight of the two twin towers, which were said to be the tallest buildings in america. The first attack of terrorism on our land ever and maybe one of the greatest, the death of about 3,000 people and the injuries of over 6,000 people will always be remembered. This terrorist attack included a number apparently of 26 terrorist but only 19 were reported in the report, consisting of five in the three planes that actually hit their targets, and the fourth that had only four.

9/11 had thousands of stories that were not counted, hundreds of nameless heroes who were not recognized but have earned a special place in the hearts of the people who were saved for them and whom will be eternally grateful. I want to tell the story of one of those "nameless heroes".

On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists who were members of the Islamic terrorist organization named al-Qaeda, hijacked four commercial airplanes and committed suicide attacks against the United States. Two of the planes were ran into the towers of the World Trade Center (Twin Towers) in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in mass death and destruction, triggering the United States initiatives to fight terrorism and defend our country. The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center changed American citizens lives forever. On September 11, 2016 some people risked their lives to save others, others experienced the terror, and many had to watch the tragedy unfold. This day brought American citizens together, when people needed it the most.
