Smart door lock project provides an intelligent way in which the user can control the door lock with options of connecting or disconnecting electrical power of the house using GSM mobile. 1.1 Background: Security systems are substantial features of a modern facility .The first home security system date goes back to the earliest 1900s. They were generally expensive and scarcely to observe. During the past 100 years as technology has enhanced, security systems also have advanced as shown in Fig.1.1. The smart lock is interfaced with an arduino, electrical switch and a GSM modem. The lock contains three main passwords. Each password indicates one of the following instructions: 1. Lock the door and disconnect the electricity. 2. Lock the door and sustain the electricity connected. 3. Unlock the door and sustain the electricity power connected. The user can control the smart lock over far distances by sending a text message containing the password to the SIM card inside the GSM modem. The message from the modem will be verified by the programmed arduino. Depending on the instructions mentioned in the programmed chip, the arduino will generate commands to the lock system in order to take actions. In the event of someone enters the wrong password more than three times, the house owner will receive a text message on his mobile phone that shows wrong password is entered to the door lock. Hence the user can monitor his house and control the electricity power by using GSM technology anytime and anywhere. 1.3 Objectives: The objectives of the project can be summarized as below: • Design of Smart System for locking and unlocking the door with options of connecting or disconnecting the electrical power using GSM network. • Develop of a program to meet the system specifications. • Interfacing the GSM modem with the smart
