Answer the questions below. When you are finished, turn in your assignment for grading. Use complete sentences and answer each part of the assignment.
1. Think of a time in your life when someone you know was having difficulty. Using that example, choose the statement from the list below that seems most true. Then, for the statement you choose, write which perspective or branch from psychology (humanistic, positive, biopsychology, cognitive-behavioral, developmental, or social psychology) is most related. Then write a one-sentence statement that describes this perspective. (5 points)

Answer the questions below. When you are finished, submit this assignment to your teacher by the due date for full credit.
Directions: Answer each question in a paragraph—be sure to give specific details and examples. Remember that each of these questions has multiple parts to it. You must type your responses out and hand it to me by the end of our class period.
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to perform the following tasks:
Biomedical model of health is an approach which eliminates psychological and social factors (environment) but only comprises biological issues in trying to recognize or understand an individual`s medical illness/disorder. The biomedical model of health looks upon treatment in expression of changing the body by medical intervention forms. Also this model seeks to look at what is wrong and fix that part of individual as it focuses on illness rather than health as well as diagnosing an individual`s illness.
For the purpose of grading the project you are required to perform the following tasks:
Follow the directions in the Student Guide to complete this graded assignment. Your teacher will use the rubric and scoring information at the end of this document to grade your assignment. When you are finished, submit this assignment to your teacher by the due date for full credit.
Fill in your name above, put your answer below each question, and then return this document for grading following the instructions in the syllabus. Please provide detailed answers to support all of the questions. Use examples from the readings, or from your own research, to support answers. The assignment must be 1-page in length with a minimum of 2 outside sources.
Answer the following questions for your homework. Work on the questions after we have covered the topic in class. Bring any questions to class or office hours. These questions will help you on the exam. If you do not do them, the points will add up and hurt your grade.
The biological approach which is the oldest approach, stems from the study of biology and the work of Charles Darwin (1809). It wasn’t until the 20th century that biological psychology occurred as a science, prior to this the connection between the brain, mind and body was not understood. The biological approach focuses on genetics and how they affect an individual’s behaviour and the brain and nervous system, primarily the central nervous system. The brain has three main parts the Cerebrum which is split into two halves which determines thoughts and memories, the cerebellum which is responsible for actions and movement and the brain stem which governs basic functions such as breathing. The central nervous system is a part of the nervous system which is located in the brain and spinal cord and all information sent here is acted upon.
Biomedical model focuses on biological causes of diseases (Browne, 2005). Illnesses are caused by bacteria, viruses, injuries, and are objectively diagnosed at a cellular level and treated using medicinal procedures (Cockerham, 2007). As the dominant healthcare model in mid-20th century, it allowed for significant advances in medicine (Borrell-Carrio,Suchman & Epstein, 2004). However, it has a narrow reductionist focus. It does not consider psychosocial context of health (Borrell-Carrio, et al., 2004).
Miller explained the biomedical model as the most related model with the inclination of psychiatry. It is sometimes represented as the medical model, even though many nonmedical workers employed in healthcare organizations directed by physicians have started using it. He states that the biomedical model uses physiology as a base for intelligence of abnormal psychology. It prompts to us that an individual who is having problems in life is also a just a person. Supporters of the biomedical models of psychology and psychiatry go outside just studying the combination of mind and body.
Directions: Answer each question completely. Please be sure to answer the question at hand and answer it completely. This is an independent test. While you may use your textbooks and notes every written answer should be in your own words. Cheating will not be tolerated. If you have messy handwriting you should either skip lines (on looseleaf) or type up answers and staple them to this document.
5) The most interesting thing that I did not already know about biopsychology is that it looks at the essence of humans. Working with the biological and neurological functions that impact behavior, it sounds like it works at the molecules of the subject being studied (Kuther and Morgan, 2012, p. 87). This sounds like a great place to start. If we are to learn why thing are done at their core it could solve a variety of problems in one
Do not submit your answers for grading until you have completed all parts of Assignment 1.
Neuropsychology is “the scientific study of human behavior as it relates to normal and abnormal functioning of the central nervous system”(http://www.div40.org/pub/archival_def).
