Benchmark: Ethical Consideration Megan Curtice Grand Canyon University PSY 495: Capstone Project Larry Katz 01/28/24 1
The idea of ethical concerns is a group of values and rules that tell us what is right and wrong in human relationships. When doing research, it is crucial to remember all these things in order to protect the individuals participating in the study. The institutional review board (IRB) is responsible for safeguarding the health and rights of human subjects who are recruited to participate in research efforts (Cseko & Tremaine, 2013). This article will outline the ethical considerations that will be implemented to ensure that my study adheres to the rules set out and authorized by the institutional review board. Additionally, I will discuss the measures I take to ensure the protection of my study participants from any potential injury. Voluntary participation is the primary ethical consideration to which I will ensure that my research follows in its entirety. Voluntary participation indicates that people engage in my research on the connection between social media and depression without any kind of pressure. I will make an intentional attempt to minimize any excessive pressure, whether it is perceived or genuine, that may lead to a reduced capacity to decline participation in the research. To make sure that all 100 people who are ready to take part in the study are okay with it, I will give them a consent form to sign before they start. Another ethical factor crucial to my study is obtaining informed permission, which involves ensuring that my research participants are fully informed about the nature and purpose of the inquiry. I will inform the participants about the purpose of the assessment, the intended use of the research conclusions, and the entities that will be granted access to the study findings (Fleming & Zegwaard, 2018). Prior to conducting the research, every necessary detail, such as the study purpose of establishing the correlation between social media and depression, as well as the accessibility of results to educators and clinicians, would be provided to the participants.
