Week 7 Discussion - How Businesses Use Podcasts in Marketing
In your assignment this week, you will be asked to create a “mini” podcast to promote
your product or service. For this discussion, you will explore how businesses use
podcasts as part of their marketing strategy.
You may think of podcasts as being only for entertainment, current events, or news. In
fact, businesses often use podcasts to reach their target audience in various ways. For
example, the meal delivery company Blue Apron produced an educational podcast
titled: "
Why We Eat What We Eat
" where they could connect with their target audience
through the common topic of food. Zip Recruiter sponsored a podcast titled: "
Rise and
Grind,
" where host Daymond John would interview high-profile achievers to ask about
their approach to work success, which are topics relevant to their ideal customers. In
addition to these two strategies, many businesses also reach new customers by making
guest appearances on podcasts relevant to their industry or using podcasts to update
customers about their product development. The exposure businesses receive from
podcasts often drives sales rather than direct advertising or marketing.
●
Find a podcast published in the last two years that fits one of these strategies.
(Note: There are many free podcasts on platforms such as Apple Podcast,
Spotify, Google Podcasts, and on your smartphone through apps like Stitcher
or Podcasts.)
●
Answer the following questions:
○
What is the overall content/message of the podcast?
○
What is the tone of the podcast?
○
Is the podcast engaging? How so? If not, how could it be
improved?
○
Based on the podcast title and topics, who would you say is the
business's target audience?
○
What do you consider to be the main advantages of podcast
marketing?
(Note: Consider where and when most people listen to
podcasts.)
Greetings all,
Tonight’s Conversation created by Ace Metaphor is a podcast created in 2022 that provides a
space where social media influencers, dating coaches, therapists, etc. gather to discuss topics
live and uncut surrounding love, dating and relationships. This podcast is a live recorded
experience that travels to various cities for interactive conversations regarding relatable
situations in today’s time. Tonight’s Conversation is not just another monotonous podcast. This
podcast gives a real, raw, extremely entertaining and high energy type of tone. Supporters of
this podcast are allowed opportunities to be up close and personal with the guest speakers by
asking questions or seeking advice and receiving feedback in real time. The environment gives
a no judgment zone vibe, which makes it that much easier to captivate their audience. Based on
the podcast title and topics, I would say that the target audience for Tonight’s Conversation
would be for young adults, male and female, in their twenties and thirties who are looking for
love while juggling trauma, adjusting to millennial differences and discovering their true desires
of life and love.
Today, podcasts are one of the most popular forms of entertainment and communication.
Businesses have taken to the podcast world as a way to market their products and services to a
large audience due to its growing popularity. The main advantages of podcast marketing are the
opportunity it allows to reach new audiences and growing the brand. Podcast listeners are
highly engaged, and when they start listening to podcasts; they usually become hooked. By
focusing your podcast work on topics of interest to your target demographic, you can reach out
to potential customers. Also, podcasting helps you build your brand beyond just a business.
When you speak on a podcast, listeners hear you as a person, not a company. Customers value
authenticity. They feel a stronger connection to your company when they can hear things like
why you started it and why something is important to you in your own words.

Assignment DescriptionThe purpose of this assignment is to have students relate to marketing from their everyday observations and interactions by making the connection between what they do in practice and the underlining marketing principle that is at work. Marketing is a not an abstract topic. It is very relatable practices that most people interact with at some time or another in the normal course of their daily lives. We are constantly being bombarded by many marketingmessages, programmes and activities. Whether we visit a store to make a purchase, browse the shopping mall/plaza to view the many products being offered by different merchants, turn on our TV or radio to view our favourite programme, we interact with several marketing activities. Some are subtle and we may not notice them, others are more overt and in “our face”. The way we interact with these marketing stimuli can ignite a chain of emotions that may eventually result in us buying or using a product or service to…

Question: Read the below paragraph and raise few questions from it
Microsoft Windows 11 is the company's next-generation operating system. This implies that it will have all of the company's most recent features and enhancements. This also means that it will be compatible with all of the most recent hardware and applications on the market. This is beneficial to digital marketing since it means that businesses will be able to build and conduct campaigns using the most up-to-date tools and technologies. Additionally, it means that their campaigns will be able to reach a larger audience. The addition of social media integration boosts digital marketing significantly. This is due to the fact that it will allow businesses to manage their campaigns from a single spot.
