How do we learn our first language? 2. What conditions need to be in place for natural language learning? List the most important conditions and explain why you believe these are the most important. 3. How does teaching a revival language differ from natural language learning? Task B: Create a 5-minute PowerPoint presentation for your language community explaining how you would teach an Aboriginal revival language class. Your presentation should explain: How natural language learning differs from teaching a revival language. Explain the challenges involved in teaching a revival language. Discuss the ways in which master-apprentice and language immersion activities could be used. Present PowerPoint. (Preparation time: approximately 2 hours) Learning Outcome 2 Identify what makes a good Aboriginal Language teacher Conduct research from a cultural perspective of what would make a good Aboriginal Language teacher and answer the following questions. Task C: a) Write a summary of the qualities that make a good language teacher. b) Identify two different approaches that you might use in an informal and/or a formal setting. Give examples of the content you might teach in this context. Explain why you think this will work in these settings. c) What factors influence the choices a teacher will make? d) What language teaching approaches could be used in the following settings? pre-school child care mid-primary school level community language learning (adults and mixed group) Select your approach/es from communicative, grammar translation, language immersion, master apprentice, genre-based theme based, audio-visual approaches.
