2 Question 1: From your readings in Chapter 2, please review the Video Case Study on Banking on Nature. After your review of the video case study, please post a summary on your thoughts about the case study. Please correlate your thoughts to the readings from the chapter and one peer- reviewed article from the GU library. Please provide 1-2 examples to support your viewpoints that other learners will be able to assess and debate within our weekly discussion forum. In this week we were introduced to the Video Case Study, Banking on Nature. This Case Study revealed how CEO Mark Tercek felt on how organizations could affect the environmental footprint. He stated that the government, businesses, and environmental groups could work together to meet this goal. He provided suggestions on creative ways in order to company-led social responsibility efforts lead to higher profits and better community relations. Social responsibility is an idea that suggests businesses could partner with stakeholders outside of the organization and address environmental concerns. In our readings we came across the term philanthropic responsibility. Philanthropic Responsibilities deals with a corporation’s aims, goals, and objectives for actively bettering society as a whole. Any business that partners with The Nature Conservancy are trying to meet their philanthropic responsibilities. Jacqueline Costello stated in her discussion this week “Banking on Nature would be an excellent idea to have big companies supporting the conservation of nature and certain things that have been destroyed by production products.” I agree with this statement to a certain extent. Please provide 1-2 examples to support your viewpoints that other learners will be able to assess and debate within our weekly discussion forum. The company, Three Square Market, a Wisconsin based tech firm, offered implantable microchips to its employees. In our discussions for the week Quinton Harris stated “If New Market Square is a regular company in Corporate America, there is a lot of untold information for even asking for volunteers. As the speaker stated, this is a volunteer act, and legislation is stopping mandating the process.” If the opportunity presents itself, it would be a stretch that the company would go through the slightest to make mandatory company-wide (not exacting in truth). There is a lot of information that we do not know about implants and the procedure around them. I recall from the reading that this is being thought of to watch the employee on the job but there is no guarantee that it would be turned off or not turned on while they are at home are during that employee’s personal time. I do not agree with the implants. I understand an employer trying to
