Azcapotzalco
 
 
Azcapotzalco (ahs-kah-pot-SAHL-ko), delegación (1990 pop. 473,476), one of the N dists. of Mexico City, S Mexico, in the Federal Dist.; 19°22'N 99°12'W. Much industry interwoven with residential uses. An important RR center, with city’s main RR yards, it is the terminus of mail and cargo traffic. Industries include motor vehicle assembling, oil refining, and the mfg. of textiles, paper, and records. Was a leading cultural center in the pre-Columbian period. Noted for its baroque colonial architecture and its 18th-cent. churches.
