Gnadenhutten (jin-AI-duhn-HUH-tuhn), village (1990 pop. 1,226), Tuscarawas co., E Ohio, 9 mi/14 km S of New Philadelphia, and on Tuscarawas R.; 40°21'N 81°26'W. State memorial park marks site of massacre (1782) of 96 Christian Indians by white men. The Moravian mission is the site of this park and mus. Founded as Christian Indian village in 1772.
