Conejos, county (1,290 sq mi/3,341 sq km; 1990 pop. 7,453), S. Colo.; Conejos; 37°12'N 106°11'W. Irrigated agr. area on N.Mex. state line; bounded E by Rio Grande; drained by Conejos R. (forms Platoro Reservoir in NW), Rio De Lapinos, and La Jura Creek (forms La Jura Reservoir in W center). Sheep, cattle; wheat, hay, oats, barley, potatoes, vegetables. San Luis Valley extends N-S. Includes part of San Juan Mts. and parts of Rio Grande. Small part of San Isabel Natl. Forest to W. Formed 1861.
