Dalhart, town (1990 pop. 6,246), Dallam co., and partly in Hartley co., extreme N Texas, on high plains of the Panhandle, 70 mi/113 km NW of Amarillo; 36°03'N 102°30'W. Elev. 3,985 ft/1,215 m. In irrigated farm area; RR junction; diversified light mfg. Founded 1901, inc. 1903. Nearby, a dam in Rita Blanca Creek forms Rita Blanca L. (to S), used for irrigation, recreation.
