Fauquier
 
 
Fauquier (fawk-YIR), county (651 sq mi/1,686 sq km; 1990 pop. 48,741), N Va.; Warrenton; 38°44'N 77°48'W. Mainly in the Piedmont region, with part of Blue Ridge in NW; bounded S and SW by Rappahannock R.; drained by Little R. in N. Rich agr. area (wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, hay, alfalfa, apples, peaches; cattle, hogs); noted for stock raising (esp. horses, in Warrenton sect.) and dairying; oak, hickory, and pine timber. Appalachian Trail follows NW boundary. Sky Meadows State Park in far N. Vint Hill Farm Military Reservation in E, part of Quantico Marine Corps Base in SE. Formed 1759.
