Grand Valley
 
 
Grand Valley, fertile fruit-growing region in Mesa co., W Colo., extending W c.50 mi/80 km along Colorado R., from Palisade almost to Utah state line. Grand Valley project, 14 mi/23 km SSW of De Beque, with dam on Colorado R. that diverts water into 55 mi/89 km canal, irrigates more than 40,000 acres/16,188 ha. Chief crop is peaches, grapes (wineries at Palisade). Grand Junction is marketing and shipping center.
