Ford, county (486 sq mi/1,259 sq km; 1990 pop. 14,275), E central Ill.; Paxton; 40°35'N 88°13'W. Agr. (corn, soybeans, wheat; livestock); mfg. (machinery, brooms and brushes). Drained by Mackinaw R., North Fork of the Vermilion, and a headstream of the Sangamon. Formed 1859 from territory left over when surrounding counties formed. Last of Illinoiss 102 counties to organize.
