Bonaparte, Lake
 
 
Bonaparte, Lake, Lewis co., N central N.Y., 28 mi/45 km ENE of Watertown, in W foothills of the Adirondacks; c.2 mi/3.2 km long; 44°09'N 75°23'W. Bonaparte or L. Bonaparte, a resort community, is on S shore. Named for Joseph Bonaparte, king of Spain and Napoleon’s brother, who owned land in what is now Lewis co. following the Fr. Revolution.
