Dubois (DOO-boiz), county (435 sq mi/1,127 sq km; 1990 pop. 36,616), SW Ind.; Jasper; 38°22'N 86°53'W. Bounded partly in N by East Fork of White R.; drained by Patoka R. (Patoka Dam and Lake in NE) and small Huntley Creek. Corn, soybeans; cattle, poultry, hogs. Bituminous coal, clay pits, timber, and stone quarries; diversified mfg. Lick Fork State Recreation Area around Patoka Dam; Hoosier Natl. Forest in NE corner; Ferdinand State Forest in SE. Formed 1817.
