Dimmit, county (1,334 sq mi/3,455 sq km; 1990 pop. 10,433), SW Texas, on plains of the Rio Grande; Carrizo Springs; 28°25'N 99°45'W. Drained by Nueces R. In vegetable growing area, irrigated by artesian wells; ships onions, carrots, spinach, other vegetables, some citrus; hay; pecans; also cattle. SW corner of co. is within 4 mi/6.4 km of Rio Grande (Mex. border). Formed 1858.
