Boise City (BOI-zee), city (1990 pop. 1,509), Cimarron co., extreme NW Okla., on high plains of the Panhandle, 50 mi/80 km W of Guymon, c.110 mi/177 km NW of Amarillo (Texas), near North Canadian (Beaver) R.; elev. 4,165 ft/1,269 m. RR junction. In wheat area; cattle, sheep; mfg. (flour milling, plastic parts). Has grain elevator. Black Mesa (4,973 ft/1,516 m), highest point in Okla., 27 mi/43 km to NW; Black Mesa State Park, 18 mi/29 km NW. Old Santa Fe Trail runs SW-NE of town. Rita Blanca Natl. Grassland to SW. Accidentally bombed in 1943 by U.S. servicemen from Dalhart Army Base. Inc. 1925.
