Canandaigua
 
 
Canandaigua (kan-uhn-DAI-gwuh), city (4 sq mi/10.4 sq km; 1990 pop. 10,725), Ontario co., W central N.Y., in the Finger Lakes region, at the N end of Canandaigua L.; 42°53'N 77°16'W. It is a resort, summer-recreation, and farm-trade center; electronics components mfg. The courthouse was the scene of Susan B. Anthony’s trial (1873) for voting illegally. Vineyards and winery are in Naples Valley 18 mi S, at S end of Canandaigua L. Seat of Community Col. of the Finger Lakes and Performing Arts Center, summer home of Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Settled 1789, inc. 1913.
