Chicot (CHEEK-o), county (690 sq mi/1,787 sq km; 1990 pop. 15,713), extreme SE Ark.; Lake Village; 33°16'N 91°17'W. Bounded S by La. state line and E by Mississippi R. (forms Miss. state line); drained by Boeuf R. and Bayou Macon. Mfg. at Lake Village and Endoras. As river changes its course, the state line remains straight, creating oxbow pockets of territory of opposing states on both sides of river. L. Chicot oxbow pocket was created before the state line was drawn. Includes L. Chicot State Park, in E by Mississippi R. (resort). Agr. includes rice, cotton, wheat, soybeans; cattle; lumber milling; catfish farming. Formed 1823.
