Fountain, county (397 sq mi/1,028 sq km; 1990 pop. 17,808), W Ind., Covington; 40°07'N 87°14'W. Bounded W and N by Wabash R.; drained by small Coal Creek. Mfg. at Attica, Covington, and Veedersburg. Bituminous-coal mining, dairying, farming (wheat, corn, rye, soybeans, fruit, vegetables; cattle, hogs, sheep, poultry). Sand, gravel, clay pits. Portland Arch natural bridge in NW; part of Shades State Park in SE corner. Formed 1825.
