Chicoasén (chee-ko-ah-SEN), town (1990 pop. 2,520), in N central Chiapas, Mexico, 11 mi/18 km N of Tuxtla Gutiérrez; 16°57'N 93°05'W. The fertile soil around the Mezcalapa R. produces corn, beans, plantains, cacao, and wood prods. The road connects with the Pan-Amer. Highway 185 in Chiapa de Corzo. A Zoque Indian community.
