Gloversville
 
 
Gloversville, city (5 sq mi/13 sq km; 1990 pop. 16,656), Fulton co., E central N.Y.; 43°02'N 74°20'W. Glove making, important since the late 19th cent., once accounted for 95% of all fine leather gloves made in the U.S.; now only 1 factory is left. Leather coats and other related goods are still made here; other mfg. includes tanning and textiles. Gloversville has a noteworthy colonial church bldg. The city is within easy access to Adirondack State Park. Inc. 1890.
